Midnight craving for Pad Kra Pao? Here’s your go to! 🦆

Phed Me in Bukit Jelutong is doing Pad Kra Pao the way it’s actually meant to be done — real wok hei (you’ll literally see fire engulf the wok), fresh holy basil tossed in by hand, rice catching every drop of that glossy chilli-basil sauce. 🔥

The beef came in safe and satisfying. Juicy, smoky, properly seasoned, exactly what you want from a solid Pad Kra Pao. 🤤

Then we tried the duck. Bigger cubes, more bite — not melt-in-your-mouth tender, we’ll be honest — but the flavour is in a different league. Creamy, sauce-soaked, genuinely addictive. 😮‍💨

Pro tip : DEFINITELY add on the duck egg because it adds to that gooey creamy texture to the Pra Kra Pao making it SO GOOD!😍

Final verdict:
🥩 Beef — for the classic, comfort win
🦆 Duck — for spice lovers chasing a flavour adventure

For us? The duck takes it. Wildcard energy. 🔥

If you’ve been hunting authentic Thai food in Shah Alam or building out your Bukit Jelutong food guide — add Phed Thai to the list. The wok-fire alone is worth the drive.

RM8 Pad Kra Pao in Gombak?!🌿

Re’an Thip is a tiny tepi jalan stall doing Pad Kra Pao the way it should be done — fresh wok, real Thai basil, fluffy rice, fried egg cracked on top with that perfect runny yolk. The beef comes in smoky and bold. The chicken plays it juicy and sauce-soaked. 🤤

For RM8, this might be some of the best affordable Thai food in KL right now. Halal, fresh, and you can feel the care in every plate. ✨

RM8 for Pad Kra Pao that actually tastes Thai? We checked the menu twice. 🥲

Re’an Thip in Gombak is one of those quiet spots locals don’t really want you to find. This is the kind of food you won’t expect from a humble kedai tepi jalan! 😍

Thai basil was quite subtle but the wok-charred edges, sweet-salty-spicy sauce clinging to fluffy rice, runny yolk seeping in was bomb!

Chicken: juicy, soaks up sauce, the comfort pick.
Beef: deeper, richer, carries that wok hei and strong fish sauce 👀

RM8 each. Authentic-tasting Pad Kra Pao at kopi-money prices. If you’re hunting affordable Thai food in KL, Gombak’s holding the secret.

Found a Kolo Mee spot in Kuching where the name itself is the whole philosophy. 👀

“Duduksama” literally means sit together in Malay — and the moment you walk in, you get it. The kopitiam warmth, the smiling staff, bowls of Original Kolo Mee being passed around full tables. This is Sarawak food culture in one word.

The Kolo Mee itself? Properly authentic. Springy noodles tossed in fragrant shallot oil, topped with char siu, minced meat, and crispy fried shallots. Served with a clear bone broth and sambal on the side. The thing that quietly stole the show — that pepper-forward warmth at the back of the tongue. Subtle, but you remember it long after the bowl’s empty.

And the part most people sleep on: Duduksama is fully halal-certified. Authentic Kuching Kolo Mee that everyone can finally sit down for — no compromises, no asterisks. If you’ve been hunting the best Kolo Mee in Kuching, or you’re a KL foodie wanting your first real taste of Sarawak food, this one’s a no-brainer.

Halal Kolo Mee in Sarawak? 👀

If you’ve been hunting the best Kolo Mee in Kuching, you’ve probably seen Duduksama pop up everywhere — and there’s a reason locals quietly send their non-Sarawakian friends here first. It’s one of the rare spots doing a fully halal version that Kuching folks themselves rate as “99% same” as the OG Chinese stall version. Bold claim. Naturally, we had to verify lah.

First impression — the noodles are properly springy. Bouncy, blanched just right, glossed in that signature shallot-oil shine that makes authentic Kolo Mee what it is. Aroma hits before the bowl even lands. Fragrant. Savoury.

And then… plot twist.
This bowl leans peppery. Not subtle. Not shy. A proper white-pepper kick that builds quietly and lingers on your tongue. At first we were a bit thrown — we expected the usual shallot-savoury dominance to lead the bowl. But the more we ate, the more it clicked. It’s that warm, slow-burn pepper note old-school Kuching kopitiam aunties swear by. Memang intentional. Memang signature. Memang got character.
Verdict? If you love authentic Kolo Mee with personality — especially if you’re team pepper-forward — Duduksama Kuching deserves a real spot on your Kuching food guide. The kind of bowl you’ll randomly think about three days later in the shower.

Flying into Sarawak soon? Add this to the list. 📍

Apparently THIS is the kolo mee Kuching locals have been quietly gatekeeping 🍜

Hon Hin Cafe along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman is one of those old-school kopitiam spots that’s been around for 40+ years — and the kolo mee lady actually descends from the legendary Green Road kolo mee family. So the heritage? Very real.

[Non-Halal okie 🫶🏻]

We ordered both bowls to settle the debate:
🔸 Original Kolo Mee — springy QQ noodles, vinegar-kissed, char siew + minced pork. Tastes simple until you realise it’s been perfected over generations.

🔴 Red Kolo Mee — that signature reddish glow isn’t chilli, it’s char siew oil. Sweeter, richer, deeper. Half the locals will tell you this is the only one that matters.
Both bowls are RM6 each and 100% worth the queue. Get there before 8am unless you enjoy waiting. Plot twist: the kopitiam also has an Italian barista pulling proper espresso, because Kuching just hits different.
If you’re hunting for the best authentic kolo mee in Kuching, this is the spot every KL foodie needs on their Sarawak list.

[Non-halal] One of best Mee Kolok in KL? 🧐

Pulled up to Mama Ting KL after hearing whispers everywhere and okay… confirmed, it’s not just hype 😮‍🔥

The noodles got that perfect springy bite, the sauce coats every strand like it means business, and the toppings? Generous sampai rasa macam rezeki jatuh dari langit 🥹

This one hits different. It’s comforting, a bit indulgent, and lowkey addictive. One bowl won’t be enough, trust.

If you’re the type who chases flavour over everything… consider this your sign 👇
Mee Kolok at Mama Ting KL = wajib try.

[NON-HALAL ya kawan. 🥹🙌🏻] Springy, slurpy, and dangerously easy to finish in under 5 minutes 🍜

Stop into Mama Ting and you’ll get why Sarawakians in the Klang Valley keep coming back. The Mee Kolok here is the real deal — handmade noodles with that perfect QQ bounce, tossed in fragrant shallot oil and topped with savoury minced pork and slices of char siu. Simple, comforting, and tastes like someone’s mama actually cooked it for you (which, well… the name kinda gives it away 😉).

For RM11 a bowl, fills you up properly, and the noodles? Really springy. Tak tipu, this is one of the closest things to a Kuching kopitiam bowl you’ll find on this side of the country. 🙌🏻

Heads up — Mama Ting is non-halal, so this one’s for our pork-loving foodies hunting authentic Sarawak flavours. ✨

If you’ve been searching for the most authentic Mee Kolok in PJ, Mama Ting (outlets in SS2, Ara Damansara & Puchong) deserves a spot on your food map. 📍

Halal Mee Kolok in Shah Alam? 🤨

Dropped by .co by since a lot of people has been saying its their fav go-to and we just had to try it ourselves and to be honest…… we were pleasantly surprised 😍

It’s the kind of meal that pulls your heartstrings 🥹💚
Hearing the origin story of how the owner quit her job to pursue her love for food makes this bowl of Mee Kolok even more extraordinary 🥺 It’s a bowl of dreams!

If yall haven’t tried their Mee Kolok Bebek and Mee Kolok Daging, take this as a sign 💚

Sarawak people might argue… but we found a contender 👀

Day 1 of ASEAN Food Guide and we’re in Shah Alam at Nuff Coffee — serving HALAL Mee Kolok that hits just right 🕌✨

Mee Kolok Bebek 🦆 + Mee Kolok Daging 🐄
Slightly less springy noodles but generous amount! Light savoury minyak, and toppings yang padu. Bebek = rich & shiok, daging = on a dry side but soup to make it more delish! Simple dish, but sedap gila 😮‍💨
