Penang, 5 December 2016 – One of country’s most established companies, Penang-based Sin-Pen Travel Sdn Bhd, has selected Scania for the next phase of its business expansion into the premium segment of travel and tours.

The first set of Scania assets it will acquire will be the purchase of two single deck 31-seaters that are built on the Scania K360IB4x2 chassis with 360 bhp Euro 3, 6-cylinder engines and fully automated Opticruise gearbox.

“We chose Scania coaches as we find that they offer the best in terms of passenger comfort, safety technology and fuel economy which are very important factors as our service covers the whole of Peninsular Malaysia, South Thailand and Singapore,” said Sin-Pen Executive Director Mr Goh Eng Boon during the launch of its Premium Class Coach and online booking service in Penang.

“We have been in the business for over 30 years and we have decided that it is the right time to offer a new premium class coach experience for our passengers with a ride that is comfortable and safe, yet fuel efficient for the best profitability,” said Goh.

“The journey, safe arrival and experience that we offer our passengers are the most important factors from the moment they board a Sin-Pen service and that is why we plan to invest in Scania coaches next year.”

The Scania coach chassis comes with 2 years free Scania Assistance, 2 years free Scania Maintenance and 10 years free Scania Fleet Management.

The Scania Fleet Management system will send vehicle data, vehicle position and reviews of vehicle and driver performance to Sin-Pen to let it to make informed decisions and take the necessary actions. Complemented with Scania Driver Training and Coaching, it will increase the uptime and productivity of its fleet while achieving the best fuel economy.

Shah Alam, 7 October – SMG Mega Sappire Sdn Bhd (SMG) has added two new Scania trucks to its fleet as part of its expansion to cater for the increase in the haulage and loader business.

The family owned business covers delivery throughout Peninsular Malaysia with a fleet of 30 trucks and its long-term plan is to eventually replace the reconditioned trucks it currently operates with two or three new Scania trucks every six months.

The keys to its two latest P410LA6X2MSZ trucks were handed over to the Managing Director of SMG, Mr Kanapathy Raman Satish by the Sales Director for Scania Southeast Asia, Tuan Haji Idros Puteh today.

The Scania P410LA6X2MSZ trucks come with the Opticruise main feature that is the best in class optimal gear change, giving drivers more and better attention spent on maneuvering the trucks while reducing fuel consumption, clutch and synchromesh wear.

With its powerful engine, the P410 delivers higher torque at lower revs, giving better drivability apart from giving the drivers a pleasurable drive with its fully adjustable steering wheel and enhanced driver cabin ergonomics that will keep the drivers focused and alert at all times to maintain safety for themselves and all other road-users.

The acquisition of the new trucks also come with the two year free Scania Maintenance package, two years of free 24/7 Scania Assistance and a ten year free Fleet Management System (FMS). Apart from that SMG secured these trucks via the Scania Credit facility together with insurance coverage.

To ensure maximum uptime from these trucks, Repair and Maintenance contracts were signed for all with a positive view on the Scania Driver Services and Fleet Management System.

The Scania Driver Services consist of the Driver Support System that gives indications of the drivers’ behaviour. Next come the Driver Training where drivers get to hone their driving skills to their best performance while the Driver Coaching constantly reminds drivers on their driving behaviour that needs correction over long periods of time.

The FMS Monitor, Control & Data Control packages activated via a communicator that comes standard with these new Scania trucks, enables operators to achieve up to 10% fuel economy.

“It goes way beyond just buying trucks to operate our business as we pleasantly discovered. It’s the total sustainable transport solutions that come with the purchase of these new Scania trucks, that makes our investment more viable in the long-term,” stated Kanapathy.

Kota Bharu , 18 August – Scania Malaysia handed over the first new Scania truck to Heng Seng & Company (Heng Seng) to take on the exclusive distributorship of MyGaz for the State of Kelantan.

Handing over the keys to the Scania G460LA6x2MNA truck with Opticruise gearbox to Edward Tan Hoe Een, Managing Director of Heng Seng was Tuan Haji Idros Puteh, Sales Director of Scania Southeast Asia at Scania (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Kota Bharu Branch.

Established in 1941, Heng Seng has been delivering LPG gas for many years and is committed to support MYGaz’s 30 percent increase in production targeted for Kelantan.

“With the purchase of these 2 new Scania trucks, Heng Seng will be able to live-up to its distributorship agreement with MyGaz. With its superb performance, Scania trucks have the power to take on such heavy loads while maintaining the safety requirements,” said Edward Tan.

“I consider Scania as a hassle-free one stop solution as processing the hire-purchase requirement from Scania Credit (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. was easy, while Scania Malaysia took care of the vehicle preparation and the after-sales provisions right up to delivery,” added Tan.

Apart from this easy process Heng Seng also benefitted from the 2 years free Scania Assistance, 2 years free Scania Maintenance and 10 years free Scania Fleet Management system that comes as standard for purchases of new Scania vehicles.

Heng Seng also looks forward to the activation of the Scania Fleet Management System and believes that it’s imperative to have it for monitoring the trucks and drivers’ performances resulting in increased revenue for the company through operational savings.

“While we have the technology in our trucks to give the best fuel economy, safety and environmentally-friendly driving for our customers benefit, we also provide Connected Services such as Vehicle Introduction, Driver Training, Driver Coaching, Driver Support and Fleet Management System. With this combination the driver will be able to use all available features to achieve up to 10% fuel economy,” said Haji Idros.
