--Canada Post to launch weekend parcel delivery by yearโs end--
Canada Post is expanding its parcel services as it looks to strengthen its position in the growing e-commerce market.
The postal carrier plans to introduce weekend parcel delivery in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto by the end of 2026, alongside other initiatives to improve delivery speed and convenience.
๐ Parcel revenue rose 20.7% year over year, while parcel volumes increased 15.6% in Q2, signaling an early recovery after prolonged labor disruptions.
To capture more e-commerce business, Canada Post is also expanding home parcel pickup to 8.6 million households, introducing easier box-free and label-free returns with selected retailers, and improving local next-day delivery.
The company is also implementing operational changes, including flexible staffing and centralized residential delivery, as it works toward improving efficiency and returning to profitability.
Key takeaway: As e-commerce continues to reshape consumer expectations, postal and logistics providers are investing in faster, more flexible and convenient last-mile delivery solutions to stay competitive.
