Last few hours in Malaysia 😢

What an epic 4 days in Kuching, Borneo 🇲🇾🌿
From jaw-dropping sunsets 🌅 to an unforgettable kayaking adventure 🚣‍♀️ — and the absolute privilege of spotting both a baby and a full-grown orangutan in the wild 🧡 (not guaranteed, especially outside fruiting season!)
We even chased down a long-nosed monkey in Bako National Park 🐒 — seriously rare — and crossed paths with a few poisonous snakes 🐍 and even some lemurs 👀

I can’t believe this incredible trip is coming to an end… but with so many wild encounters, beautiful souls, and pure adventure, it honestly feels like I’ve been gone for 6 months ✨
Here’s to the next chapter! 🌏💫

✈️ We flew from Penang to Langkawi and have spent the last 4 nights soaking up island life 🌴
From boat taxis to and from our hotel island (Rebak 🏝️), to almost making it to the Sky Bridge—until the weather said nope 🌧️—it’s been an adventure.

We explored sandy beaches, got drenched on a wild mangrove boat tour, dried off in a bat-filled cave 🦇, and had dinner on a floating restaurant 🍽️⛵
All this while thunderous fighter jets from the LIMA 25 show roared overhead ✈️💥

Oh, and of course… happy hour in the pool bar 🍹 chatting with seamen. As you do.

Langkawi, you’ve been a blast.
Borneo—here we come! 🌿🐒

The last 24 hours in Penang 🇲🇾✨

Wandered through the vibrant streets of George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its fusion of colonial history and Chinese heritage 🏛️🇨🇳
Soaked in the cultural richness — from temple-lined alleys to stories of early Chinese settlers who helped shape Penang’s identity 🏮📖
Faced my fear of heights for that pool shot 😅🏊‍♀️📸
Spotted the most massive and intricate incense sticks I’ve ever seen — seriously, next-level! 🌀🔥
Got inspired by the street art (and yes, threw in a one-legged squat or two for good measure 😜🎨🦵)

Suddenly it’s my last night in Australia…
After a month here, it feels surreal to be leaving!

The last few days have been full of unforgettable moments:
• Explored Mossman Gorge — home to more massive, ancient-rooted trees 🌳
• Spotted so many spiders 🕷️ (and some stunning butterflies too 🦋)
• Snorkeled again in the Great Barrier Reef — better visibility this time, saw a shark 🦈 and loads of vibrant fish 🐠
• Wandered through the Daintree, the world’s oldest living rainforest 🌿 — and planted some trees myself!
• Beach time in Cape Tribulation and ice cream in Palm Cove 🍦🏖️

Australia, you’ve been absolutely incredible. I’ll definitely be back!

Over the last couple of days, we hit the road again! 🚗🌿

From Lucinda, we made our way to:

• Mungalla Aboriginal Tours – where I attempted to mock a boomerang 🪃 - he never made a come back..
• Mission Beach – went for a scenic run along the water 🏃‍♀️🌊
• Milla Milla Falls – a refreshing stop at a stunning waterfall 💦
• The Curtain Fig Tree – over 500 years old and absolutely massive 🌳
• Lake Eacham – took a peaceful walk and were lucky enough to spot a rare cassowary! 🐦
• Cairns – discovered so many amazing birds… and a few sneaky mice too! 🐭🕊️
• Mandingalbay Aboriginal Tour – spotted a couple of crocs on the way! 🐊🐊
• Skyrail Rainforest Gondola to Kuranda – stunning views and a bit of souvenir shopping 🚠🛍️
• Bat Hospital – learned all about these misunderstood creatures 🦇
• Wild Nature Lodge – ended the day with a delicious dinner from our incredible guides 🍽️, followed by a spotlight night walk 🔦. Saw a possum, a huntsman spider, and a lot more creepy crawlies! 🕷️🕸️

🚆 After a luxe overnight ride on the Queensland Rail sleeper train, we arrived in Proserpine and met our new tour legends — Brandon & Jarred 🎉

Next stop: the vibrant Airlie Beach!

The following morning, we hopped aboard Thunderstruck ⚡️ with and set off to explore Whitsunday Island:
• Small hike, massive views at Hill Inlet
• Lunch on the softest, whitest sand ever (while fending off seagulls and crows from our food!)
• Snorkelled in THE Great Barrier Reef — 🪸🤯

The waves? Let’s say spicy. But shoutout to Rich, our fearless skipper, for keeping us alive while we screamed in fear and joy.

And thanks to Jesse, our deckie, for making the day extra fun 😉

Whitsundays — you blew us away!

🚐🚆 Last 78 Hours of Adventure

• Drove from Brisbane to Hervey Bay, with stops in…

• Noosa — exploring + shopping spree 🛍️
• Hervey Bay — launch point for Fraser / K’gari Island
• Swam in Lake McKenzie — crystal-clear, acidic rainwater lake (no buoyancy!)
• Spotted wild dingoes from a bus driving ON the neach (!)

• Saw the SS Maheno shipwreck
• Giant pelicans at Urangan Pier
• Umbrella twinning with Mary Poppins in Maryborough
• Wrapped it up with a luxury overnight train ride on Queensland Rail

The last two days on the road…
Cruised from Coffs Harbour through the Gold Coast to Brisbane, with a magical (and very rainy) Byron Bay stop in between!

Highlights along the way:
🍌 Big Banana – amusement park fun + bucket hats required
🦘 Look At Me Now Headland – kangaroos casually chilling by the cliffs
❤️ Red Rock – peaceful and stunning
🐨 Koala Trail – spotted wild koalas (!!) and so many kangaroos
🌆 Brisbane – explored the city and loved every bit of it

And the Byron Bay lighthouse walk? Rain-soaked but absolutely worth it!

Nelson Bay to Coffs Harbour via :

• Slot Canyon lookout
• Karuah
• Bulahdelah
• Billabong Koala & Wildlife

The wildlife reserve was great as I finally got to see some Koalas 🐨, feed some super cute Wallabies and a few other very interesting and new animals !
On the “scenic” drive to Coffs Harbour we also saw a possum cross the road and climb a tree, and a rather large Wallaby / Kangaroo / 🦘/ Wallaroo
I was so scared one would jump out in front of the car !
