Langkawi Geosite Clean-Up Initiative

Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark continues its commitment to conserving nature through the Langkawi Geosite Clean-Up Initiative, with regular clean-up programmes conducted across geosites, particularly the outer islands where floating marine debris frequently accumulates.

This initiative brings together students, local communities, government agencies, NGOs, corporate partners, volunteers, and tourists, all working hand in hand to protect Langkawi's unique natural heritage and marine environment.

From January to July 2026, a total of 3,375 kg of floating marine debris has been successfully collected, contributing significantly to the protection of our coastal ecosystems and helping preserve the outstanding natural values of Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark.

Conservation starts with each of us.

Every action counts—reduce waste, dispose of rubbish responsibly, and leave only footprints wherever you go. Together, we can ensure Langkawi remains clean, sustainable, and resilient for generations to come.

LANGKAWI – Lebih 500 kilogram (kg) pukat hanyut yang mengancam ekosistem marin berjaya dinaikkan dari perairan pulau ini menerusi Program Reef Rescue @ Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) Langkawi.

Pengarah Perikanan Kedah, Sukri Deris berkata, pukat tersebut kebiasaannya ditinggalkan nelayan selepas mengalami kerosakan ketika menangkap ikan di tengah laut dan tidak lagi boleh digunakan
