A cargo aircraft (aka freighter) is an aircraft that is designed or converted for the carriage of cargo rather than passengers. Such aircraft usually do not incorporate passenger amenities and generally feature one or more large doors for loading cargo.

Freighters may be operated by civil passenger or cargo airlines, by private individuals or by the air forces of individual countries.
Nearly all commercial cargo aircraft presently in the fleet are derivatives or transformations of passenger aircraft.

Many types can be converted from airliner to freighter by installing a main deck cargo door with its control systems, upgrading floor beams for cargo loads and replacing passenger equipment and furnishings with new linings, ceilings, lighting, floors, drains and smoke detectors.

Specialised engineering teams give the aircraft another 10-15 years of life.

Macau Airport (MFM) single runway was built on a strip of reclaimed land in the sea, adjacent to an island called Taipa Island, where the main terminal and air traffic control facilities are located, unlike in Hong Kong, where Chek Lap Kok (HKG) has all. The runway is connected to the ramp parking bays by two causeways.
Despite its small area, the airport is capable of handling Boeing 747s and Antonov 124s, which forms a vital freight link between local manufacturers and overseas markets.
