Development Bank of Nigeria

Development Bank of Nigeria The principal mission of the DBN is to increase financial inclusion by improving access to credit finance.
(1)

The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) was conceived by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in collaboration with global development partners to address the major financing challenges facing Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria. By leveraging the retail distribution channels of commercial banks and existing retail DFIs and using an on-lending business model, the DBN has

provide loans to over 200,000 businesses in 5 years of operation with a disbursement of over 400 billion Naira only as at 2021 year end. This is executed in a sustainable manner and compliment by improving the MSMEs capacity and providing credit guarantee in keeping with the Bank’s mandate.

Many businesses fail not because they lack customers, but because they run out of cash at the wrong time. Profitability and liquidity are not the same thing, and understanding the difference is critical.

Track your inflows and outflows, invoice promptly, and always maintain a financial buffer for lean periods. Small habits, sustained consistently, protect your business when it matters most.

A business can show profit on its books and still shut down, because profit is shaped by accounting decisions, but cash flow is the real movement of money in and out of your business. You can't pay salaries, rent, or suppliers with profit figures. You pay them with cash.

Know your numbers. Track what comes in, what goes out, and what's left. Because the business that manages its cash flow is the one that stays standing.

If you're not tracking your business metrics, you're making decisions blind.

You can't manage what you don't measure. Without records, you can't identify trends, optimize performance, or prove progress.

Start recording your sales, expenses, customer behavior, and KPIs. The more you measure, the more you can control and grow.
