I spent years acting like I was okay when I wasn’t. Smiling when I wanted to cry.
Saying “I’m fine” when everything felt heavy.
Pretending so nobody would worry or ask too many questions. It worked for a while. Until it didn’t.
Pretending took more energy than I realized.
Every “I’m good” was another weight I added to my own back.
I thought I was protecting myself, but I was really just delaying the moment I had to face what I was feeling.
The loneliest part wasn’t the pain.
It was knowing I was hiding it from everyone, including myself.
I became good at performing normal while feeling anything but.
One day I got tired.
Tired of carrying it alone.
Tired of the version of me that always had to look strong.
That tiredness became the beginning of something better.
I started small.
Admitting to myself first that I wasn’t okay.
Then telling one or two safe people the truth.
No big speeches. Just honest words.
It wasn’t easy. Some people didn’t know how to handle it.
But the ones who stayed made it worth it.
For the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel like I was performing.
Now I see that pretending never protected me.
It only kept me stuck.
Being real, even when it’s messy, opened the door to actual healing.
This is what I’m learning:
You don’t have to have it all together to be worthy of love or support.
You just have to stop hiding the parts that need it most.

This is Diogo’s Diary.
Hard truths. Honest reflections. No judgment.

Making mistakes is normal.
Falling behind is normal.
Feeling lost is normal.
Asking for help is normal.
Starting again is normal.
What is NOT normal is letting one bad chapter convince you the whole story is over.

Not every closed door is a loss. Some doors are locked to keep you from walking into the wrong room.

Being kind is good.
Being patient is good.
Helping people is good.
Giving second chances is good.
Forgiving is good.
What is NOT good is losing yourself while trying to save everyone else.

Nobody starts confident.
They start scared.
Confidence is just the reward for refusing to quit.
