Welcome to Travel Thoughts (specifically during carpool line) 😅

I work with a lot of families on international travel and a big concern I get is “but do you think it’s okay to fly with my kid, what if they don’t do well?”. This is valid I promise you - but also, it’s okay. And if you don’t have someone telling you this then I’m going to - it’s okay.

Your infant may cry during your flight no matter how much we prep you, and that’s okay. It shouldn’t be the reason you don’t take the trip, and I’m going to encourage you to stop thinking it’s a burden to other people because it’s not 🫶

I love helping people take the jump into international travel, so if you’re looking for an advisor who will always be honest with you, but will also always be in your corner then you’re in the right place and I can’t wait to work with you 🫶

Food is one of my personal favorite ways to experience a country or a new city, and it's consistently something I recommend you do! There's something about learning how to cook something, or combining your tour with food, that just makes it feel that much more like you've actually visited.

Here are a few food experiences from recent trips that I loved having a hand in👇
-making empanadas in Costa Rica with a group of 7 (dietary restrictions and all)
-a cooking class inside a local's home in Mexico City
-a food tour through Split that was part walking tour part dinner
-pasta rolling in Florence with their 5 year old having the best time

If you're planning a trip and want one experience that's almost guaranteed to be a highlight, then you've got to add this to your list! Make sure to save this for your next trip!

If you’re wondering where the summer went and just realized you really don’t want to do the exact same thing for fall break that you’ve done for the last 3 years, then friend let me tell you, you’re not alone. A lot of families get to trip four or five and start wondering what else is out there, they just don’t know how to make it work when you’ve got a toddler, a tween, and grandparents all traveling together.

That’s the part I handle. The right guide, the right pace, the right balance of “wow” moments and downtime so nobody’s melting down by day three (kids or adults because let’s be honest adults get hangry too).

Fall break is closer than it feels. And if you’re already eyeing the holidays, a trip is still one of the best gifts you can hand your family because nobody unwraps a sweater and says “I’ll remember this forever” no matter how many hours you spent searching for it.

Croatia 2027 anyone? 😏

Yacht cruising through Croatia is 100% the way to go (honestly it’s the only type of Croatia cruise I recommend 🤷🏻‍♀️) and next summer Postcard & Co is making it happen, and we want you to come with!!

This cruise is hitting Ston (the best salt you’ll ever buy is located here btw), Mljet (one of the most beautiful national parks that takes up almost HALF the island), and of course stops on Brač and Hvar!

I believe in quiet luxuries when it comes to travel. Not the obvious and flashy ones, but the ones that you honestly may not even think of as a luxury.

I’m talking about not needing to know how you’re getting to and from the airport, or how you’re getting to your next hotel. How you wake up and walk out the door of your property and you’re just in the right spot for you.

It’s meeting your guide at your meeting point, and they already know your name, your kids name, and your parent’s names. It’s showing up and the only major thing you need to decide on is where to eat dinner, not if the agriturismo takes Discover.

The big one? Being able to feel like you can actually relax because everything has already been confirmed. Your hotel, your drivers, your guides. There’s nothing else for you to double check on.

That is what I mean by quiet luxuries. Because let’s be honest here - as the default family planner all you want is to just know that you can actually take a breath. And that’s priceless 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you’re even considering a trip to Europe then there’s no way you haven’t seen the acronyms "EES" and "ETIAS" being thrown around, people panicking around them and in general just creating misinformation instead of trusting a professional to guide them. So let's break down why you don't need to freak out about it, and what the two of them actually mean 👇

EES stands for Entry Exit System - and it's already happening. It started in April of this year, and happens when you cross into most European countries. In short - instead of getting your passport stamped (which we're all collectively devastated by), you'll have your fingerprints taken and a photo of your face scanned. It's fully automatic and just happens at the border. BUT here's the big thing for family travel - if you're traveling with someone under 12 years old you will have to go to the booth for their passport to be manually checked. They'll still ask to capture their picture, and verify their passport, but they will not need to give fingerprints.

ETIAS stands for European Travel Information and Authorization system (say that 10 times fast). This is NOT happening yet and honestly keeps having the start date pushed back. Once it does finally launch (newest timeline is end of 2026 but it that may change to 2027), you will need to apply online before your trip. This one does cost money - and right now that's €20 (this could change). This is essentially a quick visa waiver, saying you basically have permission to visit a country without getting a full visa. Everyone traveling with you will need to do this.

So that's honestly it 🤷‍♀️It seems really complicated because most of these people panicking are not working with a Travel Advisor. Will you see longer wait times? 100% yes. Should you make sure your connection times in Europe are adequate - also yes (but also if you work with me I'm telling you this all up front before you even book those flights). If you see someone saying "go to this site to fill out your ETIAS application" or a service that will "fast track" you through EES do not sign up, pay for, or do anything with those. Those aren't actual services and are a scam. I'll post in my group Travel by Lisa: Family, Multigenerational & Couples International Vacations once there’s a set start date!
