M/v Leonie arrived in IJmuiden and is awaiting loading of steel coils at the lay-by berth.
During the stay, we delivered the necessary stores, visit crew and took the opportunity to carry out technical inspections of some machinery and equipment in the engine room. A good chance to make sure everything is in proper working condition and ready for the next voyage.

Last week, the Susanne was in the port of Delfzijl, where we carried out a crew change.

The off-signer was guided through immigration and taken to the train, while the on-signer was picked up and escorted through immigration before joining the vessel.

Besides the crew change, we bring supplies and assist with other questions ⚓️👷‍♂️

Van Dam Shipping op bezoek! ⚓️🌍
Dinsdag kregen onze klassen 1 en 2 een boeiende presentatie van Elise Wiertsema, die vertelde over het familiebedrijf Van Dam Shipping en het leven aan boord van hun shortsea-schepen.
De leerlingen maakten kennis met nieuwe begrippen zoals bi-bu, airdraft en short sea, en hoorden over varen in Europa, internationale bemanning en het werken in schema’s van 6 - 8 weken op / 6 - 8 weken af. Ook duurzaamheid kwam uitgebreid aan bod - zoals de WASP-technologie die schepen extra aandrijving geeft met windkracht.
Natuurlijk kwamen ook de belangrijkste vragen voorbij:
📱 Mag je je telefoon gebruiken aan boord?
💶 Verdien je goed?
En ja: op de meeste schepen is tegenwoordig gewoon wifi aanwezig, en de startsalarissen én doorgroeimogelijkheden zijn uitstekend.
Het idee dat je na maanden varen ook maanden vrij bent, viel bij onze leerlingen bijzonder in de smaak! 😉
