August happens every year.
Carriers go on holiday. Coverage gets tighter. Capacity becomes harder to secure.
And yet, every summer, the same surprise.
The problem isn’t August. It’s relying on one or two carriers and calling that reliability.
When they say no, suddenly:
colleagues are away,
alternatives aren’t qualified,
and a shipment planned weeks ago becomes an emergency.
That’s when rates go up, requirements become negotiable, and any available truck starts looking like a solution.
But that’s not a capacity strategy.
That’s dependence disguised as reliability.
Real control means preparing before the market tightens, having qualified alternatives and knowing who takes action when the original plan fails.
August didn’t create the capacity problem. It exposed it.
