🧭 Back on course! ⚓

“It’s not a job we do very often – only once every two years – and it’s not always carried out by the crew themselves!” says Dennis.

This time, Master Dennis van der Zwaard and Second Officer Enem took on the compass swing, checking and adjusting the compass to ensure accurate navigation.

A great example of teamwork, technical expertise and taking responsibility on board.

With the compass checked and adjusted, the crew are ready to keep moving forward safely! 💪🌊

Proud to support Bayanihan: Reframing Mental Health – A Filipino Perspective!

Today, 16 October, Bayanihan brings people together in Makati to explore mental health through a Filipino lens.
Building on the important conversation started at ISWAN’s Bayanihan event in 2025, this initiative highlights three Filipino values that shape wellbeing and support:
💚 Kapwa – a shared sense of self and connection with others
💛 Pakikisama – living together in harmony
❤️ Kabutihang-loob – compassion and genuine kindness

At MF Shipping Group, we believe mental health support must reflect the realities of life on board and at home. It must recognise the importance of family, community and belonging. Because meaningful support is about more than translating words. It is about understanding people, their culture and their lives.

“Sakay tayo sa byahe ng buhay.” . Let’s journey through life together. And at MF Shipping Group, we are proud to step aboard this journey by supporting Bayanihan and helping to build a more open, culturally aware approach to mental health for seafarers and their families. Because no one should have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

Wishing everyone involved a meaningful and successful event today! 💚

🚢 A visit close to home! 😊

When the Lurö passed through Delfzijl, our colleagues didn’t have to travel far to meet the crew and visit the vessel.

With our office just around the corner in Farmsum, several colleagues took the opportunity to step on board, say hello and have a look around. 🛳️👋

Always good to meet our crews in person and stay connected, even when they’re just around the corner! 💙

We’re delighted to celebrate this new addition to the fleet of our long-standing partner, Erik Thun Group.

Although the launch didn’t go quite as planned, the journey has only just begun. We look forward to seeing Thun Resilience take her next steps towards joining the fleet and setting sail!

Here’s to a bright future ahead! ⚓🚢

Thun Eos in beautiful Skålevik, Norway⚓
While the holiday season may take our people away from the office for a well-deserved break, our connection with our vessels and crew remains strong. 🤩🚢

During his holiday in Norway, our Crew Supervisor Lyckle Meissner spotted the Thun Eos in beautiful Skålevik. Naturally, he couldn’t resist stopping by to say hello and catch up with the crew. It was great to hear that everything on board was going well and that the crew is doing a fantastic job! 👏

Lyckle’s spontaneous visit is a wonderful example of the genuine commitment and personal involvement that make our organisation special. It’s about more than ships and operations; it’s about people, teamwork and staying connected, wherever we are.

A big thank you to Lyckle for sharing this lovely photo and story, and to the crew of the Thun Eos for the great work they do every day! 💙

Inspiring the Next Generation 🧐🚢
We recently took part in a number of successful open days and careers events to introduce young people and future maritime professionals to the maritime sector and the opportunities available within MF Shipping Group.

It began on Thursday 25 September with the Open Day at MLC De Ruyter Scheepvaart in Vlissingen. It was a successful day with a good turnout and many interested students, who were keen to learn about the maritime sector and the career opportunities on board our ships.

We then attended an event in Urk on 30 September, where all the northern maritime colleges were represented. Here too, we welcomed many pupils, students and other interested parties to our stand. It provided an excellent opportunity to discuss training programmes, work placements and career opportunities within the maritime sector.

The series of events concluded at the Maritime Talent Day in Rotterdam on Friday 2 October. This event brought together students, young professionals and maritime companies, providing a valuable platform to meet talented individuals and share insights on the future of the maritime sector.
We look back on three inspiring days and would like to thank everyone who visited our stand. It is encouraging to see such a high level of interest in a career in shipping. We look forward to continuing to meet young talent and inspiring them about our industry in the future.
