A look inside the engine room of the Johanna Andrea, where our colleagues Arnoud and Floris recently carried out maintenance on the Mitsubishi S12A2. Alongside our repowering projects and overhauls, our service team also regularly carries out maintenance work on vessels alongside at Koedood.

This time, the work included general maintenance, an endoscopic inspection, an alignment check, additional mechanical work, and welding and steelwork. As the photos show, checking the alignment requires precision and attention to detail.

After the work was completed and the engine had successfully completed its test run, the Johanna Andrea was ready to leave Koedood and continue her journey, ready for many more operating hours.

Een kijkje in de machinekamer van de Johanna Andrea, waar onze collega’s Arnoud en Floris recent onderhoud uitvoerden aan de Mitsubishi S12A2. Naast onze hermotoriseringen en revisies voert ons serviceteam regelmatig onderhoudswerkzaamheden uit aan schepen die voor de wal bij Koedood liggen.

De werkzaamheden bestonden dit keer uit algemeen onderhoud, een endoscopische inspectie, controle van de uitlijning, aanvullende mechanische werkzaamheden en las- en ijzerwerk. Zoals op de foto's te zien is, vraagt het controleren van de uitlijning om precisie en aandacht voor detail.

Na afronding van de werkzaamheden en het succesvol proefdraaien van de motor kon de Johanna Andrea weer vertrekken, klaar voor de volgende vaaruren.

Over the past month, Koedood carried out maintenance and overhaul activities for the Aurora.

The portside Mitsubishi S12A2 (634 kW @ 1940 rpm) underwent a complete overhaul in our workshop, while the starboard engine received service.

Highlights of the work included:
▪️ Overhaul of the cylinder heads, turbochargers and governor
▪️ Inspection and overhaul of the fuel and cooling systems
▪️ Renewal of various engine components and wear parts
▪️ Workshop test run, on-board commissioning and sea trial in Austria
▪️ Service of the starboard Mitsubishi S12A2 engine, including valve adjustment, injector replacement and turbo inspection

Following a successful sea trial, the Aurora was able to continue her journey. We would like to thank everyone involved for their trust in Koedood and the pleasant cooperation throughout this project. We wish the crew of the Aurora many safe, reliable and successful hours of operation.

De afgelopen maand voerde Koedood revisie- en onderhoudswerkzaamheden voor de Aurora.

De bakboord Mitsubishi S12A2 (634 kW @ 1940 rpm) onderging in onze werkplaats een complete revisie, terwijl de stuurboordmotor een onderhoudsbeurt kreeg.

Een greep uit de werkzaamheden:
▪️ Revisie van de cilinderkoppen, turbo's en regelateur
▪️ Inspectie en revisie van het brandstof- en koelsysteem
▪️ Vervanging van diverse motorcomponenten en slijtdelen
▪️ Proefdraaien in de werkplaats, inbedrijfstelling aan boord en een proefvaart in Oostenrijk
▪️ Onderhoud aan de stuurboord Mitsubishi S12A2, waaronder het stellen van de kleppen, het vervangen van injectoren en de controle van de turbo's

Na een succesvolle proefvaart kon de Aurora haar reis vervolgen. We bedanken alle betrokken partijen voor het vertrouwen in Koedood en de prettige samenwerking tijdens dit project. Wij wensen de bemanning van de Aurora veel veilige, betrouwbare en succesvolle vaaruren toe.

Our colleagues Pepijn and Max joined a seagoing vessel for the duration of the overhaul of a Mitsubishi S6R generator set.
Throughout the work, they stayed on board and carried out the overhaul while working closely with the crew. Once the overhaul was completed, the vessel continued its journey with the Mitsubishi S6R ready for many more reliable operating hours. Of course, we’d like to thank the crew for their pleasant cooperation on board!

Onze collega's Pepijn en Max voeren mee aan boord van een zeeschip gedurende de revisie van een Mitsubishi S6R-generatorset.
Gedurende de werkzaamheden verbleven zij aan boord en voerden zij de revisie uit in nauwe samenwerking met de bemanning. Na afronding van de revisie kon het schip haar reis vervolgen met de Mitsubishi S6R weer klaar voor vele betrouwbare draaiuren. Natuurlijk bedanken we de bemanning voor de prettige samenwerking aan boord!

Today, Koedood had the pleasure of welcoming Marieke Vellinga-Beemsterboer (Member of the Dutch House of Representatives for D66), Emre Hoogduijn, Sander van Diepen, Marc Merx, Gerard Schouw and Erik van Oorschot during a regional working visit.

During the visit, Toon Mühlheim introduced Koedood and shared our vision on the future of maritime propulsion. Topics included the decarbonisation of conventional fuels, future fuels, alternative propulsion solutions, hybrid applications and the innovations shaping the maritime industry.

Jim Kooyman introduced the Mitsubishi hydrogen engine (prototype H₂ICE) and explained the role hydrogen can play in the future of sustainable maritime propulsion.

We also discussed the importance of clear and predictable legislation. A stable long-term perspective and close cooperation between industry and government are essential to accelerate the energy transition.

We would like to thank everyone for their visit, their interest and the valuable discussions.

Vandaag had Koedood het genoegen om Marieke Vellinga-Beemsterboer (Tweede Kamerlid D66), Emre Hoogduijn, Sander van Diepen, Marc Merx, Gerard Schouw en Erik van Oorschot te ontvangen tijdens een werkbezoek aan de regio.

Tijdens het bezoek verzorgde Toon Mühlheim een introductie over Koedood en nam hij de aanwezigen mee in onze visie op de toekomst van maritieme voortstuwing. Daarbij kwamen onder meer het verduurzamen van traditionele brandstoffen, toekomstige brandstoffen, alternatieve voortstuwingsoplossingen, hybride toepassingen en de ontwikkelingen binnen de sector aan bod.

Jim Kooyman gaf vervolgens een toelichting op de Mitsubishi-waterstofmotor (prototype H₂ICE) en de rol die waterstof kan spelen binnen de energietransitie in de maritieme sector.

Daarnaast spraken we over het belang van duidelijke en voorspelbare regelgeving. Een stabiel toekomstperspectief en goede samenwerking tussen bedrijfsleven en overheid zijn essentieel om de energietransitie te versnellen.
