Epilepsy disrupts livesโaffecting 200,000 people in the Netherlands. It can strike while grocery shopping, doing DIY jobs, or commuting to work. For some, it happens daily; for others, once a year. But it is always unexpected. And it can happen to any of us, at any stage of life. Sometimes there is a clear cause, such as an accident or a brain hemorrhage, but more often, there is no obvious trigger.
We are taking action and raising funds for top researchers who are working to better understand brain activity, develop improved treatments, and enhance quality of life. We also innovate together, gathering and sharing smart, practical solutionsโfor instance, regarding diet and sleep. Our innovation focuses on people's strengths, ensuring that those with epilepsy can get the most out of life.
As Team F-ENNE, we are running for Fenne.
Fenne developed epilepsy when she was five years oldโstill a child, full of life and promise for the future. What once seemed manageable has become increasingly difficult over the years. Epilepsy has permeated her daily life, constantly dictating what she canโand, more importantly, cannotโdo.
With this epilepsy run, we aim not only to raise funds and awareness for research and better treatments but, above all, to show Fenne that she is not alone. We are running for her, for everyone living with epilepsy, and for a future with greater certainty and fewer seizures.
