🇳🇱🇳🇱You have moved to Holland. How are you feeling?
❓The most asked question of the past week and of course a very relevant one.
🏝️A bit of context. When me (Marthe) and Tash met in Bali we made a five year plan in our first few weeks of dating lol. I was going to move to London first, live in England for a few years and then we move indefinitely to Holland after.
🇬🇧Low and behold we did not plan or think about covid, getting pregnant, moving to Margate and loving it, or campervan life.
🙃After six years in England we finally moved to Holland. And how do I feel now?
💜I am going to be super honest. It is a double feeling. I love being back with my friends who now have families and with my own family. I love how well organised Holland is, but sometimes it feels a bit too structured. I feel pressure to fit back into a mould I have outgrown.
🏡I do not want to buy a house, get a fixed full time job, put my child into nursery multiple times a week, or get 4 weeks holiday a year. There is nothing wrong with that life. It just does not fit me or my family.
🌷So what matters most is that I stay true to myself and our values. Yes I want to settle and ground. Yes I want more rhythm in our day to day life. And I also want the freedom to live somewhere else. I want to build my business so I can stay as remote as possible. I do not want a mortgage.
🇳🇱🇬🇧🚐I love Holland. I love England. I love travelling. They all bring their positives and their challenges. One is not better than the other. They are simply different.
🥂So here is to another big transition. I am going to enjoy living close to my family and friends. I want Sutton to learn the language and feel part of the culture. I want me and Tash to stay connected and adapt again as a couple.
💞Do we make life easy for ourselves? No, but it suits us and it is about finding contentment, resilience and freedom wherever we live.
✨Thank you for reading.
🇳🇱Ps. Any recommendations for places in Holland we should explore to live?
