A new step forward for circular chemistry: Blue Circle Olefins and Chane have signed an Option & Service Agreement supporting the development of a 200 kton circular Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) facility at Chane’s Terminal Nieuwe Maas in the Port of Rotterdam.

Ralph Koekkoek, CEO of Blue Circle Olefins: "We are pleased to partner with Chane in Rotterdam. This location offers strong synergies and enables us to move forward with site-specific engineering.

Dr. Fabian Ziegler, CEO of Chane: "This agreement shows how our terminal infrastructure can support new industrial projects by efficiently integrating methanol-based feedstocks into the port ecosystem."

Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam: "This underlines the strength of the highly integrated Rotterdam port industrial cluster, where companies can collaborate intensively and benefit optimally from each other thanks to their proximity.”

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on a period of connection, progress and learning across Chane.

In a year shaped by changing markets and geopolitical dynamics, our focus remained clear: our customers, our people, business partners and contractors, and safe, reliable operations. We welcomed Dr. Fabian Ziegler as our new CEO, amplified the voice of our colleagues, and continued to strengthen Chane’s position across the industry.

Learning and Development remained central to our journey. Through hands on, safety driven learning, we continued to invest in learning by doing. Initiatives such as the Connected Port Initiative and the Performance Plan System project showed how learning, innovation and cooperation support transparency, efficiency and performance. Through our presence at industry gatherings and congresses, we engaged in dialogue with the market to share insights and listen.

The strength of Chane lies in its people. Across 21 sites and our offices in Europe, our teams demonstrated resilience and commitment and stood ready for our customers in every condition.

At Chane, reliable delivery starts with reliable information. That is why we are developing the Connected Port Initiative together with UAB-Online and Systems Navigator. The project is led by Chane’s Customer Service Manager Lissy Helbers and Operational Excellence Specialist Bob Möhlmann.

By linking data across the logistics chain, we reduce manual work, improve transparancy, and give customers enhanced real-time insight into vessel operations. All in one shared portal.

🎥 Our new film shows how data moves through the port and how smarter collaboration keeps cargo moving efficiently. “It is fast-paced, inspiring, and it shows exactly how information flows through our operation,” Bob says with enthusiasm.

Roodhart, experts in pumping systems and mechanical seals, and Chane have teamed up to create a hands-on training program that blends technical know-how with real-life application.

🔧 Operators learn how pumps work and how to prevent issues like dry running or cavitation before they happen.

“You could see colleagues better understood what a pump actually does, and what can go wrong if you misuse it,” says Nicky Klaverkamp from Chane’s Learning & Development department.
