Karpowership is building a new electricity plant in Havana with the use of a Liebherr Construction LTR 1220, a crane capable of lifting up to 220 tons. Contrary to their floating electricity plant, this new project will be built on land. The new plant will be a copy of the floating plant.
On this floating plant, a 64-ton generator had to be replaced. Because of the distance from where the center of the crane could stand to the heart of the generator, this job had to be done with two 220-ton cranes. This process is called a ‘tandem lift’. Last Friday we removed the old generator and within the next two weeks, we will place the new generator using the same process.
The two Liebherr Construction cranes used for these jobs, the LTR 1220 and the LTM 1220, have been rented from us by Karpowership. If you require equipment for a construction or lifting project as well, feel free to check our website in our bio or contact one of our representatives.

Karpowership está construyendo una nueva central eléctrica en La Habana con el uso de una Liebherr Construction LTR 1220, una grúa capaz de levantar hasta 220 toneladas. A diferencia de su central eléctrica flotante, este nuevo proyecto se construirá en tierra. La nueva planta será una copia de la planta flotante.
En esta central flotante hubo que sustituir un generador de 64 toneladas. Debido a la distancia desde donde podía situarse el centro de la grúa hasta el corazón del generador, este trabajo tuvo que hacerse con dos grúas de 220 toneladas. Este proceso se denomina "tandem lift". El viernes pasado retiramos el generador viejo y en las próximas dos semanas colocaremos el generador nuevo utilizando el mismo proceso.
Las dos grúas Liebherr Construction utilizadas para estos trabajos, la LTR 1220 y la LTM 1220, nos han sido alquiladas por Karpowership.
