Official contractual signing of BRF Froya

We are delighted to announce the official signing of a second newbuilding contract at SoHo Marine. The vessel will be named BRF Froya and will be the second general cargo vessel of our 14 000 DWT F‑type class, becoming the first sister vessel to BRF Froan. In alignment with her sister, BRF Froya will be constructed to an almost identical design and equipped with the same sustainable technologies and solutions, including dual rotor sails, solar panels and a battery package, albeit of reduced capacity. This signing represents another important milestone in our ongoing efforts to further develop a modernized and sustainable fleet. BRF Froya will benefit from the experience and data gained throughout the building phase and eventual operational performance of BRF Froan, ensuring that she is developed to the same standards of quality and innovation while identifying potential areas of improvement derived from her older sister.

We would further emphasize the strong and constructive cooperation established among all parties engaged in our newbuilding program. The collaborative efforts of the shipyard, technical designers, classification societies, financial institutions, equipment suppliers, site inspectors and many others have all been invaluable in ensuring that our projects develop efficiently with precision and coordination.

BRF Froya is scheduled for delivery in the of end Q4 2027, and we look forward to following her development phase as she progresses towards becoming a fully realized and operational vessel.

Official Launching of BRF Froan

Today we celebrate the launching of our most anticipated and exciting newbuilding project yet, BRF Froan. The remarkable 14 000 DWT vessel represents not only the continued ambition and growth of the Company, but also our steadfast commitment to efficient, safe and sustainable maritime operations. The vessel is built at the shipyard SoHo Marine, a shipyard operated by professional, dedicated and highly competent people with whom the Company have over several years developed a strong cooperation with.

From the earliest planning stages to today’s launching, BRF Froan has been shaped through close collaboration, meticulous attention to detail and a joint ambition to deliver a vessel at the very highest technological and operational standard. As with our previous newbuilding projects, the craftmanship and quality delivered up to this point has been consistently of the highest standard, leaving no doubt that BRF Froan will be yet another highly successful addition to our ever expanding and renewing fleet.

We take immense pride in witnessing the progress of the construction unfold towards realization and this launching represents a significant milestone towards that final realization. Once in operation, BRF Froan is certain to become a valuable contribution to the Norwegian and international maritime industry, as well as to the increasingly demanding efforts for global sustainability. We look forward with anticipation to the remaining stages of her construction and to the moment we can formally welcome BRF Froan into operational service here in Norway.

The vessel BRF Froan is currently under construction at the shipyard in China. The project is progressing well, and the vessel is scheduled for completion this summer.

Following a few months of sailing, we look forward to welcoming Froan home to Norway.

Construction continues to advance according to plan, and today we received updated photos from the yard showing both the vessel and the shipyard facilities.

We extend our utmost gratitude to all individuals and organizations whose efforts contributed to the seamless success of MV Sandstad's christening and celebration from morning until evening.

- Lena Fillingsnes Antonsen, Hotel Manager at Hotell Frøya, was instrumental in ensuring that the event was meticulously tailored to meet, but also exceed all expectations.

- Assistant Chef Marcin Gajowniczek and his culinary team for delivering a dining experience of exceptional quality.

- Emcee and Toastmaster Truls Svendsen, together with Project Manager Daniel Dystebakken from PLAN-B AS, ensured that the evening’s dinner programme was conducted with the highest level of engagement, structure and professionalism.

- Stian Husby from Total Lyd AS delivered outstanding sound quality throughout the ceremony as well as during the subsequent evening dinner. While DJ Perre created an engaging post-dinner atmosphere through his musical selections.

- A special thanks are also due to Trondheim Havn IKS, represented by Location Leader Sigrid Hansen, whose support made it possible for us to christen the vessel at Hitra Kysthavn in Sandstad.

We convey our sincere appreciation for the dedication, expertise and exemplary professionalism demonstrated by all parties involved, which collectively ensured that this event was distinguished success.

Berge Rederi AS had the distinct pleasure of hosting the 6th and 7th grade students from Knarrlagsund Oppvekstsenter today.

Their curiosity, energy, and genuine enthusiasm made the visit exceptionally inspiring.

Encounters like this give us strong confidence in the next generation and bode very well for the future recruitment of talent to the Norwegian maritime industry.

A Memorable Christmas Gathering at Hotel Frøya

This weekend, Berge Rederi AS had the pleasure of hosting our annual Christmas celebration at Hotel Frøya. From Friday to Sunday, we enjoyed exceptional food, engaging activities, and wonderful company together with our 70 valued guests.

The weekend began on Friday with the hotel’s outstanding buffet – a culinary experience that Hotel Frøya consistently delivers with excellence and finesse.

On Saturday, we travelled to the beautiful fishing village of Titran, a place especially close to my heart, as it is where my roots lie. Sharing the history and stories of this remarkable place with our trusted clients and partners was truly meaningful and a highlight of the weekend.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Johan Ingebrigtsen, who, on behalf of the Titran community Grøndalag, delivered a sincere, captivating and deeply engaging presentation on the history of Titran, past and present. His speech added great depth and connection to our visit.

We returned to Hotel Frøya for another outstanding Christmas dinner on Saturday evening. Once again, the hotel impressed us with its remarkable service, exquisite cuisine, warm hospitality, and unique atmosphere.

On Sunday, we all headed home, grateful for a memorable weekend spent with people we appreciate and hold in high regard.

A special thank you to Dr Dupont and Pablo who entertained and edutained us throughout the saturday evening and contributed greatly to the wonderful atmosphere.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Brage Profil, DalPro and Blomsterhavet.

Finally, a warm thank you to the vocal group FAMME who delivered fantastic entertainment at Gaustabrygga at Titran during our lunch. Their performance added a memorable musical touch to the day.

We are deeply thankful for everyone who joined us and helped make this celebration truly exceptional.

The rotorsails for BRF Froan are ready for mounting. Together with 23500 kW of batterypower and 1000 m2 solar panels, the rotorsails will give BRF Froan a huge environmental advantage compared to a traditional 14000 Dwt vessel’s.
