Today, we published our Annual Report for 2025 - and we hope you will find it interesting! We try to be as transparent as possible, showing both the good and the not-so-good.

Though many think of these as financial reports, we continue to publish a holistic report to illustrate the connection between our capital and human resources and how they create value in the short, medium, and long term, considering the impacts, risks, and opportunities related to our business model.

In 2025, we strengthened our finances and continued investing in safety, renewing our fleet, new business areas, and building long-term resilience.

We made a profit before tax of USD 7.1 million in 2025, after a loss in 2024. Revenue rose to USD 159 million from USD 137 million in 2024, driven by more stable trade patterns, fewer operational disruptions and improved fleet utilisation in the open hatch business.

“The operating environment for shipping has become more complex in recent years,” our CEO Matt Duke says, pointing to geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts and continued instability in key trade routes.

Against this backdrop, our focus has been on what we can influence directly. “For us, this means staying focused on running safe, reliable and efficient operations, supporting our customers and continuing to position the business for the future,” he says.

This week, we are coming down from the high of celebrating the naming of the last three of our four N-class vessels: Star Nordkapp, Star Narvik, and Star Naga.

With over a hundred guests, owners, family, partners, yard, and employees, we celebrated our long-term commitment to our business and the industry on Friday.

The day after, Star Nordkapp followed in the wake of Star Norge in the G2 Ocean pool, sailing out on her maiden voyage from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Longxue yard in Guangzhou.

“A naming ceremony is always a special moment. It marks not just the completion of a vessel, but the beginning of her life at sea. It is a moment to celebrate, to reflect, and above all to thank those who made her possible,” said GMG CEO Matt Duke at the ceremony.

These 82,300 dwt vessels have energy consumption well below the fleet average. Technology, speed, and capacity combine to make them 40% more energy efficient than our second-most-efficient vessels. They are also ready for retrofitting for green ammonia or methanol - or for carbon capture.

Big news from our team this week: we’re setting sail - Jet Sail!

Last Week, we signed a contract with GT Wings to install two of their AirWing™20 Jet Sails on Star Kirkenes, and potentially an additional three vessels. These innovative Jet Sails will help us harness the wind, significantly reducing fuel use and emissions.

Our technical team has spent months exploring solutions for wind-assisted propulsion. When they saw GT Wings’ technology in action, they were immediately intrigued. The AirWing™20 delivers strong thrust with a compact design, making it ideal for our K-class vessels.

“Reducing fuel consumption will always make sense,” says CEO Matt Duke. “We’re confident in our team’s assessment and excited to see our first ship fitted with Jet Sails.”

Installation is scheduled for Star Kirkenes’ mid-life drydock in late 2026 or early 2027. There is also an option to install more Jet Sails on the K-class vessels, all sailing in the G2 Ocean fleet.

We look forward to seeing the results of this new technology.

Today we are celebrating! Our JV with Peak CSL group, Skarv Shipping, received its first vessel, the PEAK SKARV 1, delivered at 16:38h Beijing time.

Captain Oleksiy Bondarenko and his crew raised the Norwegian flag at the stern of the vessel upon completion of the vessel's registry under the Norwegian/NIS flag.

The ship is the first of a class of four vessels. With a DWT of 7900, a LOA of 108.2 meters, and a beam of 18.1 meters, we are convinced the vessel will be a success in the North European shortsea market.

“These ships are far more climate-friendly than what we see in the short-sea market in Europe today, with a very low fuel consumption. They are not what we imagine is the final climate solution for shipping, but they are a giant step in the right direction,” said Skarv CEO, Jan Øivind Svardal.

Now, the vessel will pick up its first cargo before heading for Europe, arriving before the summer.

“We wish the crew of PEAK SKARV 1 all the best and safe sailing on the Maiden Voyage. We owe big thanks to our team and partners for their hard work and collective efforts in reaching this major milestone for Skarv Shipping,” said Jan Øivind Svardal.

Today, we had the pure joy of hosting a group of extremely engaged students!

Pelago is the shipping part of Congreatio Forensis, the student association for law students in Norway.

The all-women student group discussed legal and practical issues related to owning, building, selling, and operating ships with our experts in law, claims, and insurance.

Geopolitics and its impact on the maritime industry quickly became a lively topic.

“We discussed many real cases - and told a few sea stories and tall tales,” smiled our VP Legal and Compliance, Mariann Revheim.

Thank you to the Pelago Bergen students for your curiosity and thoughtful questions. You gave our team a great opportunity to dive into the details of what we do every day and to enjoy being a little “geeky” about serious maritime matters.

Our crewing agency, Grieg Philippines, is hiring a Crew Recruitment and Planning Officer!

Every voyage starts long before a ship leaves port. It begins with the people who make sure every vessel is crewed with competence, care, and commitment to ensure world class operations. Behind every safe passage is someone who sees potential in a seafarer, who plans their journey, and who supports them from shore to ship and back again.

At Grieg Philippines, this role is essential. As your main responsibility entails seafarer recruitment and crew change planning for assigned positions, you will serve as a bridge between our seafarers and global operations.

Would you like to be part of that story? Are you someone who understands that crewing is not just about planning schedules, but about supporting people, building careers, and shaping futures? Do you have experience as a seafarer or within crew recruitment and planning?

Who said strategy needs to be boring?

Last week, we held our third annual Strategy Festival, bringing together all our Norwegian employees at our headquarters in Grieg Gaarden to learn, discuss, and celebrate.

Last year, we dove deeper into the matter when we adjusted our strategy for the years ahead. It is adapted to the changes we see in climate and environmental issues, markets, global politics, technology, and the employee situation. We removed some, adjusted others, and kept some.

Our Strategy Festival is two days of letting the whole organisation embrace, critique, question, and operationalise the strategy. We dare to put our top management on the spot, questioning them on what we didn’t manage to do last year. We let those closest to the seafarers and customers teach and inspire us.

This year, we also had Kjersti Haugland from DNB Carnegie, who spoke about global trends and made us truly believe in a great future for us. And we had Eivind Rebnord from Helse Vest IKT, who stripped away the hype and fear around AI.

Getting the strategy out to the organisation is critical to our success, and we believe dedicating time and resources like this - to celebrate it in a Strategy Festival - gives us a better understanding of the strategy and each other.

And that gives us a better chance at succeeding.

Safety and quality don’t come by themselves. They require focus, work, and collaboration. Our Marine & Vetting Superintendent, Haakon Losnegaard, pushes for higher quality both on our ships and among external inspectors to ensure safety for the crew and environment - and hassle-free shipments for our customers.

At the heart of Haakon's work lies RightShip inspections. His responsibilities span everything from developing procedures to preparing for inspections and responding to findings. The results speak volumes about what's possible.

"We're actually down to approximately half of the world average when it comes to findings per inspection," Losnegaard explains.

Every year, Haakon travels to all “his” ships to inspect, discuss, and improve.

“Still, for us to succeed, we are depending on onboard leadership and the crew. There is only so much we can do from onshore. Working with the management onboard and supporting them in implementing the company’s safety and quality standards is vital,” Haakon says.

If you want to learn more about the work of a Marine & Vetting Superintendent in Grieg Star, you’ll find Haakon’s story here: https://griegstar.com/story/raising-the-bar-for-maritime-safety/

The maritime cluster in Norway is incredibly lucky to have a Royal Family with a genuine interest in our industry.

It was a real pleasure and a great honor to welcome His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway to Grieg Gaarden and our offices today. Led by our Chair Camilla Grieg, CEO Matt Duke, and Deputy CEO Nicolai Grieg, we were allowed to host the Crown Prince on behalf of Bergen's Shipowners Association for almost three hours.

Along with presenting our ship management, Skarv Shipping’s visions for a greener short sea segment, and G2 Ocean’s commercial operations, the Crown Prince also met with several members of Bergen’s shipping community.

It’s always encouraging to see genuine curiosity about our business combined with real knowledge. Experiencing this from the Crown Prince reminds us that our industry is both exciting and enjoyable.

14/01/2026

Look at this beauty! Our Star Norge has finally had her first voyage. It was only a sea trial, but we’re so happy we’ll soon be delivering her to G2 Ocean to serve all their customers for the coming three decades.

She is by far our most energy-efficient vessel, delivering each ton/mile 40% more efficiently than our second-best ship. And three more are coming soon!

What a feeling this is!
