As of late April 2026, the Everest expedition season is facing significant delays due to dangerous conditions in the Khumbu Icefall. Hundreds of climbers are currently stranded at Base Camp, waiting for a safe route to be established.

Sherpas cannot prepare the route to the world's highest peak because a huge block of ice is in the way.

Tourists can conveniently renew their visas free of charge directly at the immigration desk upon departure from Tribhuvan International Airport. This effort underscores Nepal’s commitment to supporting its valued visitors and promoting tourism.

Kathmandu Airport Reopens Today, September 10, 2025

Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport has resumed operations as of today, September 10, 2025, following a temporary closure due to recent violent protests across Nepal. The decision to reopen was made after a meeting of the Civil Aviation Authority and security agencies, including the Nepal Army, who imposed nationwide restrictions to restore order.

The airport had been shut down for approximately 24 hours due to unrest linked to nationwide protests led by Generation Z activists. During this period, authorities detained 27 individuals involved in looting, arson, and other violent acts. Security forces also deployed fire trucks to extinguish fires set during the protests.
Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for updated flight information and are reminded to carry valid tickets and official identification when traveling.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal stated, “The suspension of flights due to adverse circumstances has been lifted following the decision of the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Committee.”
