Devighat: Where Sacred Legend Meets Royal History 🇳🇵🏔️

Just a few hours from Kathmandu lies Devighat (known in sacred texts as Tsawarong), a stunning confluence of the Tadi and Trishuli rivers. This unique site is a powerhouse of both spiritual energy and Nepalese history.

The Spiritual Legend (Tsawarong):

For Buddhist practitioners, this is the land of Guru Rinpoche. As recorded in the Barché Lamsel, the Mahaguru appeared here as Kyepar Phakpé Rikdzin to subdue the arrogant spirits of the region, binding them as protectors of the Dharma.

A Royal Legacy

Beyond its Buddhist significance, Devighat holds a pivotal place in Nepal’s history. It is the final resting place of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal, who was cremated here at the confluence of the holy rivers in 1775.
