Happy work anniversary! We have owned Elgin Transport since 8th August 2014. Buying the business from Linda Riseley who ran it for 8 fabulous years. It must mean Elgin Transport is about 21 years in existence and running weekdays from Ashburton to Christchurch.

Nigiel is at least smiling in handshake with Straun Syme from Iveco Trucks. Thanks a million or at least a few hundy thou to Iveco Trucks, Helmack Engineering and Juice Signs. Special thanks to our offshore financial consultant KAB, not based in the Caymans but is a family member who helped with sound business advice.

Spotted out and about today. Not quite in our hands but getting very close. Nigiel and I appreciate the work attended to on the truck build by Paul, Robbie and the Helmack Engineering team and the signage by the crew at Juice Signs.

Not long to wait now and Nigiel will get a nice birthday present as we enter our 13th year in business. I, as usual will own the left side (no steering wheel or fuel tanks but I will have the hubometer). Nigiel owns the right side as he gets to sit there. Anyone who knows our business profile, I do all the quotes, invoices, compliance etc while Nigiel drives and talks on the hands free….😉 all day long 😂. Ford or Holden? What’s your go to? Nigiel has owned 3 Ford’s - 2 x Telstar sedans and 1 x F150 and 5 Holden’s - 1 x HQ sedan, 1 x Berlina, 1 x VY commodore, 1 x Colorado 7 seater and 1 x Battletruck (one tonner).
You’ve got to have owned one to appreciate the other. Nigiel currently owns one of each.

In case you don’t know, we are upgrading. I’m honestly hopeless at trying to list this. I tried to put it on 2 truck pages on Friday. Failing badly and not sure it features anywhere. One page seems to approve everyone north of Bombay (that’s not the hills!)

When choosing a freight company that will work well with you, do you choose a van operated or a truck operated service? That is a really interesting question. With Elgin Transport, cost is calculated by total volume (cube/weight up to 9m) and not by the number of parcels. Elgin Transport's difference is if your freight gets on the truck, it is delivered the same day. No delay's through a depot. With just one truck, bookings are made by phoning Nigiel on 0274856759. Currently we are monitoring our FAF on a weekly basis and following fuel price announcements from our suppliers. We are able to allow clients to make prior arrangements and pick up from our yard to avoid additional mileage costs at choking prices. Rates remain the same since 1st March 2025. It is just the FAF that continues to rise with no respite. Next rise is due 8th April.
