This is the full video from the launch evening for BLU500, now named Thunderbird One. We wanted to capture the day properly, not just the truck, but the people who showed up for it.

BLU500 first joined the Alexander Group fleet in June 1995 as Fleet Number One. Rod Alexander was the first to drive it, running routes between Gisborne, Napier and Edgecumbe for years. In 2003 it was sold on. In 2024 we bought it back.

What followed was three years of work. Parts sourced through previous owners. Components shipped in from the United States when they couldn't be found locally.

The launch event brought together drivers, families, and friends who have been part of the Alexander Group story across the decades.

BLU500 has been named Thunderbird One. It will be used for community events and road safety education going forward, but mostly it stands for the people who built this company and kept it going.

We celebrated the completion of our legacy truck restoration project over the weekend, a great way to mark the end of a long but rewarding process.

It was fantastic to have staff, past and present, together with the people who helped bring BLU500 back to life.

A massive thanks Marsh Engineering Services, Malcolm Cab Solutions, DBNZ Coatings, Fleet Image, Visual ID, Broshmik Trucks, Truck Centre BOP and Taupō Parts and Services for bringing Rod's vision to life. This truck holds a lot of history for the Alexander family and our wider team, and we’re really proud of the final result.

Trevor Harcourt off to Christchurch last week with the Hiringa MEGC container, a key component in the new Hiringa green hydrogen refuelling station being built on the Allied site in Hornby Christchurch.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Hiringa Energy, Allied Petroleum, TR Group and GBV as they continue to expand their hydrogen refuelling network nationwide.

We have a big Alexander Group milestone to share.
Alexander Group has acquired Monex Holdings and we have welcomed the Team onboard today. Monex will become part of our Alexander Logistics division.

Many will already know Monex as we share the same Neilson Street site in Onehunga. Monex specialises in bulk oil, chemical and solvent distribution with a highly skilled driver team and specialised trailer fleet. The Monex team have all taken roles with us and Ross and Steve will remain in the business throughout integration.

Thank you to our people behind the scenes who have worked incredibly hard to make this happen. This is an exciting step forward for both Alexander Group and Monex, and we are proud to continue serving this specialised market. Please join us in welcoming the Monex team to Alexander Group.
