Our Story - Hendrickson New Zealand

The Hendrickson story began in 1913 with the founding of The Hendrickson Motor Truck Company by inventor and businessman Magnus Hendrickson.

This small Chicago-based manufacturing company built trucks, often equipped with cranes or dump bodies. Eventually Hendrickson sold the truck manufacturing operation to focus solely on suspension systems and related components.

Hendrickson Australia commenced operations in 1973 assuming the distribution of the Hendrickson suspension range from the previous distributors. The company leased a warehouse in Mulgrave but the facility couldn’t keep up with demand, so Hendrickson moved to a purpose-built building in Abbotts Rd, Dandenong in 1982.

Business inquiry for the innovative Hendrickson suspensions started to increase with globalisation. The Australian office found itself constantly responding to inquiries from the Asian region. It became a natural step to expand responsibilities, so in 2000 the Australian operation was renamed Hendrickson Asia Pacific Pty Ltd. In 2008, after 34 years of operation in Australia, Hendrickson once again outgrew our facilities and moved to their current location in Letcon Drive, Dandenong South.
