Waiheke Movers & Freight are currently seeking Permanent experienced Furniture Removalist’s and Class 2 and 4 Truck Drivers to join our team. The position will involve physical work and heavy lifting, so you must be fit and healthy and be interested in a physical challenge. You'll be packing, moving spa pools, loading / unloading furniture and travelling with the crew.
What you'll do:
- navigate heavy vehicles on Waiheke Island and the rest of NZ when required
- load goods into trucks, containers and vans, and securing loads
- labelling goods with customers' details and destinations
- assisting to tie down loads and cover them with blankets
- guiding truck drivers into loading bays and through confined spaces and driveways
- performing clerical functions to record and check cargo on arrival, storage and despatch
- opening and closing hatches and securing cargo to prevent shifting
- transferring loads using moving equipment and directing equipment operations using communication systems
Skills/Licences required
- Class 2 - 4 Full Licence for Truck Driver
- be physically fit and capable of heavy lifting
- a friendly manner and good communication skills
- a careful and methodical approach to your work
- the ability to work out the most effective way to load items
- an honest and responsible attitude to other people's property
- the ability to read maps and follow directions
- be OK to pass a pre-employment drug test and return a satisfactory criminal check
Hours of work: Monday – Friday with rostered Saturdays
All training and induction will be provided.
Full license an advantage, but not mandatory for the ideal candidate.
