WOW! January has passed us by in a flash - we hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday break.

NEW-BUILDS:
M&W's return to work mid January saw us straight into the launch of our 2nd electric ferry for Auckalnd Transport. Due for launch the Tuesday prior to the long weekend of wild weather, wind gusts meant that she only touched that water briefly on her planned lauch day, with her actual full launch a week later.

Currently docked on McMullen & Wing's marina, 'AT2' has a couple of months of commissioning and seatrials ahead before you will see her out and about in the harbour.

Work continues on Auckland Transport AT2, with launch scheduled for mid-October, five weeks from now.
The focus is now on engineering, electrical, interior and manufacture and installation of the hydrofoil (strut being CNC machined).

Following launch, AT2 will still have extensive commissioning at the marina at McMullen & Wing before heading out onto the Waitemata Harbour for sea trials.

Its ALL GO at McMullen & Wing.
Fullers360 Kekeno left the yard 2 weeks ago after her 8 week refurbishment.
Fullers360 Te Kotuku arrived at our marina last week (for engine replacement and survey work), just as AT1 was about to leave to head out for her first sea trial.

The team at McMullen & Wing is super-excited to be able to share the news of the launch of the first EVM200 100% Electric Ferry for Auckland Transport.

Not yet formally named, AT1 (as we know her) was moved from her construction shed the previous weekend and prepped for her launch, which took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
The weather gods smiled on us and we were blessed with a still and rain-free morning.

Our special thanks to members of Ngai Tai Ki Tamaki, Auckland Transport, Auckland City Council, and the many other organisations who attended and have participated in this project.

With continued work, testing and commissioning required over the next few months, keep a keen eye out on the Waitemata and you might catch an early glimpse of her out on seatrials.

IKA KAKAHI
One of Fullers' two largest vessels, Ika Kakahi, was hauled on 01 April and is now in the slipway shed undergoing planned maintenance and repairs including the inspection & cleaning and removal & replacement of some propulsion equipment, paint touch-ups, and some safety equipment servicing.

Fun fact: Ika Kakahi is Maori for Orca, or Killer Whale (spot the graphic at the aft end of the boat).

The first of our two carbon fibre electric ferries currently in-build for Auckland Transport is gradually being closed in as windows and doors are fitted and the surfaces are being prepared for final paint or application of vinyl wrap.
