💙 Remembering Jonathan 💙

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that Manukau Live Steamers says farewell to a truly great man.

For more than 40 years as a club member and over 30 years serving our visitors, Jonathan was one of the most familiar and dedicated faces at Manukau Live Steamers.

If you bought a train ticket, concession pass, ice block, cold drink, or more recently an ice cream in a tub, there is a very good chance Jonathan was the person who served you. He was there nearly every fine Sunday and at countless special events, helping families, selling tickets, arranging birthday parties, and making sure our visitors were looked after.

Jonathan never sought any recognition. He simply turned up, week after week, year after year, with incredible loyalty and dedication to the club he loved.

Sunday, 2 August 2026, will forever be remembered as the day Manukau Live Steamers lost one of its most loyal and treasured members.

Jonathan was our man. His loss will be deeply felt by our members, across the miniature railway hobby, and by the countless customers and families who came to know him over the decades.

Today, 10 August, would have been Jonathan's 74th birthday.

From all of us at Manukau Live Steamers:

Thank you, Jonathan, for more than four decades of friendship, loyalty and service. You will never be forgotten.
