In February, a bunch of fearless Aucklanders grabbed the mic and lit up Queens Wharf at a lively open-air singalong! 🎤✨

The cosy evenings were hosted by Hazaduz – a dynamic Auckland-based entertainer, DJ, and karaoke host known for his laid-back crowd engagement, seamlessly mixing live song-leading with relaxed party vibes.

We know there's an appetite for more harbourside activities in this area. We’re planning to open up the central wharves in downtown Auckland for greater public use. Find out more about the exciting plans for Queens Wharf and the wider central wharves area at audo.co.nz/projects/central-wharves/

We’ve teamed up with the New Zealand Maritime Museum Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa to share highlights from their collection on Queen’s Wharf.

A series of images now installed along the wharf offer a glimpse into the museum’s 30,000+ objects and photographs celebrating Aotearoa’s deep connection to the moana.

Take a stroll, spot the displays, then take a short walk from Queen’s Wharf to the Maritime Museum to explore thousands more stories of life on the water.

Sunday's Sunset Session is moving inside!

To keep us dry and warm, tonight's Sunset Session is moving inside The Cloud, in the downstairs area near the sea.

The performances will be up close and intimate, set in front of windows overlooking the moana - the perfect way to end a lazy long weekend Sunday.

The front doors of The Cloud will be open, so come on through and walk to the end through The Cloud.

The schedule for tonight looks like this:

6:00pm - 6:45pm: Māpura Music
7:00pm - 7:45pm: Love Square
8:00pm - 8:45pm: ROMi Wrights

Please note, there is no parking on Queens Wharf - we recommend catching public transport, walking or cycling, or if you choose to drive the best parking is the Downtown Carpark.

With the move inside unfortunately our wood fired pizza friends will not be joining us, so bring snacks or a picnic dinner!

Summer on Queens Wharf returns for 2025!

Soak in the sunshine and celebrate the season with Summer on Queens Wharf 2025, returning with a vibrant programme of free performances, events and activities by the moana.

The all-ages programme, an initiative supported by Eke Panuku Development Auckland, Interesting Things and Moana Festival Auckland, runs from January to March 2025 and features an exciting mix of returning favourites and brand-new experiences.

Sunrise Yoga

Back by popular demand! Start your day with six Sunrise Yoga sessions by the sea. Guided by expert instructors, these sessions blend ancient wisdom, movement and morning light, creating a moment of calm and connection on the edge of the Waitematā Harbour.

Sunset Sessions

New for 2025, Sunset Sessions brings live music to the end of Queens Wharf as the sun dips below the horizon. The evening series features an eclectic line-up of artists, including soul singer ROMi Wrights, pacific punk-fusion band LEAO, Love Square, Cook Island drumming group Te-Kiato, improvised music from Māpura Music by artists living with disabilities and more to be announced!

Ka Tiri o Te Moana

In a powerful response to the urgent issue of climate change, Atamira Dance Company presents Ka Tiri o Te Moana. Choreographed by founding member Louise Pōtiki Bryant, this site-specific performance explores the impacts of Antarctic ice melt on communities globally and nationally. Drawing on Ngāi Tahu perspectives, the work highlights the deep relationships between southern iwi, Antarctica, and the southern oceans, weaving together dance, storytelling, and environmental awareness.

Mermaid Parade

Following a swashbuckling debut in 2024, the Mermaid Parade is back! Fish-folk, merpeople, clams, and nautical navigators of all ages are invited to don their best ocean-inspired looks and parade along the waterfront of Tāmaki Makaurau. A celebration of creativity, community and the sea, this whimsical event promises waves of fun for everyone.

All activities are free and open to all ages. Visit the Facebook event pages for updates, performance schedules, and free ticket registration details.

The Summer on Queens Wharf 2025 programme is made possible thanks to Eke Panuku Development Auckland with support from Interesting Things Aotearoa and Moana Auckland.

As a part of the Mermaid Parade, together with the Moana Festival, we cooked up an epic lineup of performers and talent. Starting with a Mermaidification Station at Queens Wharf, the Mermaid Parade shimmied, sashayed, and paraded across the waterfront, ending up at Te Wero Island, which came alive with colour, scales, barnacles, and tridents.

Auckland's own Anita Wigl’it dazzled the crowd in a sparkly, fishy gown, welcoming the parade to the Moana Mainstage and presiding over the costume contest - celebrating all the hard-working mer-crafters and inviting them to show off their home-made looks 🎤🧜‍♀️

Following an epic dance-off, the grand prize went to one of our tiniest Mer-folk, who sat atop a silver throne, holding her trident of glory. Then came whimsical acts from The Dust Palace, and lively sets from Fathe and the Sweetos, Mermaid Bait, Wellington Sea Shanty Society, and DJ Matthew Crawley.
It was a rainbow of humans - we couldn’t have asked for a more vibrant gathering! 🌈🏝️

The Mermaid Parade was a part of the annual Summer on Queens Wharf programme, made possible thanks to Eke Panuku Development Auckland and Moana Auckland.
