This story of the curious seal that found a cat flap and made itself at home in this Tauranga house has gone around the world! 🦭

Luckily this story had a good ending with one of our rangers showing up to save the day. 🚨

As seal numbers increase they are popping up in some unusual places. If you see a seal on the beach or in a coastal area they are probably just having a rest, rather than being sick or injured. Please give them plenty of space (20 metres) and keep dogs away.

If you see a seal in immediate danger, being harassed or tangled in debris you can call 0800 DOCHOT.

This is a wonderful place to visit - I took our children and their cousins in February and we all loved it. Welcome to the first egg of 2021!

The first egg of the season! 🥚

We have some very exciting news this morning as the first albatross egg has been laid by YWO (yellow white orange) for the 2021/22 breeding season! 💛 YWO (34) is the mate of 37 year old ROB (red orange blue) who is often the first bird back at the start of a new season.

ROB has been rather unlucky in love and has had a few mates before YWO. His previous mate was Chile Bird who had landed half-starved on a fishing boat near Chile and was taken ashore to be fed before being released. She is the only known toroa from Pukekura / Taiaroa Head to make it to land in Chile!

ROB and YWO fledged a chick in the 2019/20 season, we wish them luck with their brand new egg! ✨

We grow mighty people in Aotearoa 💪 🏆 💯

I’m still trying to get my head around today... A dream so big that never in my wildest dreams did I think it could come true. But it has and I’m so grateful.

To represent Aotearoa is the greatest honour, and the older I get, the more I understand how much it means to wear the silver fern. It’s hard to find the words right now.

I can’t wait to hit the start line tomorrow with three Wāhine Toa. We’re ready. Kotahitanga.

Oh the sights you’ll see...

A surprise encounter with several humpback whales was a spectacular end to a day out for two Nelson fishermen.
