New addition to the fleet - a tail-lift equipped delivery van

At Cargo Plus, we're always looking for ways to make freight delivery faster, safer, and more convenient for our customers. That's why we're excited to introduce the latest addition to our fleet, a new tail-lift equipped delivery van.

This vehicle fills an important gap between traditional courier services and larger freight trucks. It allows us to respond quickly to urgent pickups and deliveries of palletised freight while still accessing locations that can be difficult for larger vehicles to reach.

The built-in tail-lift also provides significant benefits for customers who don't have forklift facilities on site. Palletised freight can be loaded and unloaded safely without the need for manual handling, reducing the requirement for time-consuming and labour-intensive hand unloads.

Whether it's a last-minute delivery, a location with restricted access, or a site without unloading equipment, our new van provides a flexible solution that helps keep your freight moving and your operations running smoothly.

Cargo Plus turns 12

September saw Cargo Plus celebrate its 12th birthday with a team lunch and a chance to look back on what has been an incredible journey.

There were a few nervous moments when the team realised there would be no traditional KFC feast this year, with a healthier menu taking centre stage instead. The Spit Roast Company supplied ham on the bone, sausages, fresh salads and buns, which went down a treat. Any concerns about healthy eating were quickly forgotten when a giant fresh cream-filled chocolate log appeared for dessert!

The highlight of the day was a special surprise from the team for Rob and Carl. A large LEGO truck had been painstakingly assembled before being sent to Royan’s for a full Cargo Plus makeover. Finished in Cargo Plus colours and complete with a branded container, the result was nothing short of amazing.

The truck proved to be the perfect symbol of the Cargo Plus journey over the past 12 years. Like the model itself, the business has been built one careful piece at a time through hard work, teamwork, loyalty and a shared commitment to our customers. A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of the Cargo Plus story so far. Here's to the next chapter and many more pieces still to be added to the build.

Cargo Plus Coffee Break

The first Cargo Plus Customer Coffee Break hit the road last month, with Carl and Neil calling in on the team at KLN Logistics for a quick catch-up and a coffee.

Armed with our new Cargo Plus coffee cups and a caffeine fix, it was a good chance to say hello, see how things were going, and enjoy a few laughs along the way.

A big thanks to Barry, who kept the coffees flowing and made sure no one was left running on empty. Top effort, mate.

We're looking forward to getting out and about a bit more, catching up with customers, and sharing a coffee where we can. After all, some of the best conversations start with a decent flat white.

Meet Shona, dispatch and customer service team

Hi my name is Shona,

I’ve been in both the Transport and Freight Forwarding industry for the past 11 years.

The last 3 years have been spent at Cargo Plus working as part of the dispatch and customer service team.

I feel privileged to be working alongside some amazing colleagues and together with some awesome customers.

I’m the crazy one who’s here at 5am ready to get the day started haha.

This industry is so fast paced and challenging with no two days being the same, you really need to be able to think on your feet and it’s an absolute must to have a great sense of humour.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my granddaughter Safiya, going to Reformer Pilates, live music and enjoying a w**e or two ( or 10 hehe ) with friends and family.

A New Look for the Highbrook Yard

If you've driven past the Highbrook yard recently, you've probably noticed the new mesh fence signage that's now wrapped around the boundary.

We reckon it's a great use of such a visible site. Sitting on one of Highbrook's busy roads, the yard sees a constant flow of cars, trucks and commuters every day.

With more than 140 businesses and around 6,000 workers in the wider Highbrook Business Park area, there are plenty of people passing by. While we couldn't find any official traffic counts (from Auckland Transport) for the road outside our gate, we'd guess there are easily more than 100,000 vehicles travelling past the yard each week.

That's a lot of eyeballs on the Cargo Plus and Fulfilment Plus brands!

The signage is only the beginning. Over the next few weeks, keep an eye out for a freshly painted and branded container being placed to add a bit more colour and personality to the yard.

Meet Suji, our Systems Administrator

My name is Suji Varghese Thekkemuriyil, and I’m proud to be part of the Cargo Plus family as a System Administrator.

My primary role is working to create and maintain job information in our system to ensure everything is accurate and runs smoothly. I also support the team and enjoy solving problems that help make our day-to-day operations more efficient.

My journey to New Zealand began in September 2024. Like many people starting a new life in a new country, I faced the excitement and uncertainty of beginning again.

My first job was at Auckland Airport, where I gained valuable experience and learned the importance of teamwork and customer service. On 1 September 2025, I joined Cargo Plus, a decision that has truly been one of the best I have ever made.

Coming into the transport and logistics industry, I had no previous experience. I was nervous at first, but from my very first day, I was welcomed by an incredible team and supportive management who believed in me. They patiently taught me everything I needed to know, encouraged me to ask questions, and gave me the confidence to grow in my role. The positive culture, willingness to help one another, and genuine care shown by everyone here have made Cargo Plus feel like much more than just a workplace, it feels like a second family. I am truly grateful for the opportunities I have been given and for the trust the company has placed in me.

Outside of work, I am a proud father of three beautiful daughters, and they are my greatest inspiration. I love spending quality time with them, taking them to their sports activities and dance classes, and watching them grow into confident young girls.

Those moments remind me every day why I work hard and strive to be my best. When I have some time to myself, I enjoy reading books and listening to music, which helps me relax and recharge.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Cargo Plus team. Every day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute, and I look forward to continuing this journey with such an amazing group of people.

Keeping New Zealand Moving, one Coffee at a time

As winter settles across New Zealand, we've parked our "Spot the Truck & Win" competition and brewed up something a little different, giving us another way to support local and thank the customers who keep us moving every day.

We're excited to launch our new initiative - Keeping New Zealand Moving, One Coffee at a Time.

Each month, we'll randomly select one lucky customer and shout their team a morning coffee, delivered courtesy of our local coffee legend, Barry.

Why the change?

Well, there are a couple of reasons:

Firstly, we wanted a simple way to say thank you to our customers. Every day, you trust Cargo Plus with your freight, and we genuinely appreciate the partnerships we've built together.

Secondly, we love the idea of supporting local. Barry's coffee van is a familiar sight in our community, and like many small businesses, winter mornings can be a little quieter, especially on Mondays. By buying local, we're helping support someone who works hard to keep our community moving too.

It's a small gesture, but one that reflects who we are and the values we strive to live every day:

New Muscle for the Highbrook Yard

There's a new powerhouse in the Highbrook yard, with the arrival of our brand-new SANY lifter.

As our business continues to grow, so does the need for the right equipment to keep freight moving safely and efficiently. The SANY is a significant investment in our operations, providing greater lifting capability, improved productivity, and more flexibility when handling containers and heavy freight.

For our yard team, it means faster turnaround times, safer handling, and the ability to tackle bigger jobs with confidence. For our customers, it helps ensure we continue delivering the reliable service and responsiveness they're used to from Cargo Plus.

A big thank you to everyone involved in bringing the new machine into operation. We can't wait to see it put through its paces as it becomes an important part of our Highbrook operation.

Puzzling Katherine

I’ve been working in accounts for 11 years, and one of the things I enjoy most about my role is that no two days are ever quite the same – it keeps me busy and makes every day feel productive and rewarding.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum of two lovely daughters who seem to have an endless supply of “why” questions, which keeps life interesting!

When I’m not working, I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles. I love the sense of calm and focus they bring, and I find them a great way to unwind and recharge. As for exercise, my favourite sport is window shopping – plenty of walking and much more enjoyable than the gym!

I’m looking forward to continuing to work with everyone and getting to know more people across the business.

This month’s Spot the Truck & Win competition gave us plenty of great entries, but one photo stood out for all the right reasons. Congratulations to Brandon from Fliway for submitting our winning shot!

What made Brandon’s photo a standout wasn’t just the truck—it was the feeling behind it. As mentioned in our first article it reflected one of Cargo Plus’s core values: family.

The value of family is especially important to us. It speaks to the way we look after one another, the respect we have for our people, and the strong, genuine relationships we build—both inside the business and with all our partners.

Brandon’s photo was a great reminder that what we do is about more than trucks and freight—it’s about people, connection, and being part of something bigger.

Well done again, Brandon—and thanks to everyone who took part this month! This marks the final round of our Spot the Truck and win competition. We’ve loved receiving all your photo’s – and judging by what we’ve seen, our trucks really do get around! Don't worry though, we're already cooking up something new to treat our customers.
