Please note South Davey Buoy has broken free from its mooring and is not in position, we have recovered the buoy and will reinstall after maintenance has been completed.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution when navigating in the area.

Update 5 August 2026: Power to the Front No. 1 Lead Light has been restored.

Please note that the NO1 Front Lead is currently unlit. Our infrastructure team will work on this once the weather has settled.

Radio calls including channels 14, 16 and 61 are being notified hourly.

Today we fixed a Yellow Sealite C510 to the Outer Davey structure as the main light, and the temporary lights are being removed, including the marker buoy.

Please note: This light is not aligned with the Inner Davey and should not be used as a leading light or transit.

We will update keep you updated once a permanent light and structure is installed and certified.

⚠️ Please pay extra attention when coming and going from the harbour as South Port’s Outer Davey Beacon has broken off and is marked by buoys.
The bottom structure is only slightly visible above the water line and is hazardous. The area has been marked by a reflective buoy, and the structure has had lights mounted to help with visibility.
All interested parties are aware, and we are working on resolving this asap.
Radio calls including channels 14, 16 and 61 are being broadcast hourly.
Just a reminder for recreational users, please keep your speed under 5 knots when in the vicinity of Harbour Beacons.
We will update accordingly when we have more info.

We have a helicopter operation scheduled for Friday 26 June (weather permitting) at approx. 2pm, to transport rock bags from the former Z Energy site to the No. 2 lead light beacon on Tiwai Peninsula as part of ongoing erosion control efforts.

There will be approx. 14 individual flights (each bag equals one flight), and you will be able to see and hear the helicopter for short periods, we appreciate your understanding.
