Site/ProjectEngineer – Civil Construction

Maugers Contracting is a fast-growing Canterbury civil construction company delivering subdivisions, roading, drainage, earthworks, and infrastructure projects across the region. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Site Engineer to join our team.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in the field, enjoys technology and systems, and takes pride in delivering high-quality civil projects.
The Role
You will play a key part in supporting our supervisors and project teams across multiple sites, with a strong focus on:
Trimble GPS systems and machine control
QA documentation and project compliance
Site surveying and set out
As-built data and reporting
Productivity and accuracy improvements onsite
Supporting supervisors with technical and operational requirements
Weekly Reporting
You will work closely with our operations and site teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain Trimble GPS systems and machine control models
Carry out site set out and surveying works
Prepare and manage QA documentation, check sheets, and as-builts
Ensure works are completed to specification and council/client standards
Assist with project planning and sequencing
Monitor site progress and provide reporting to management
Coordinate with subcontractors, surveyors, engineers, and clients
Support crews with problem-solving and technical guidance onsite
Assist with drone and digital survey technology integration where required
Ensure strong health and safety and environmental compliance standards are maintained
What We Are Looking For
Experience in civil construction or land development
Strong understanding of Trimble GPS systems and machine control
Experience with surveying and set out
Knowledge of QA processes and civil construction specifications
Ability to read and interpret plans and engineering drawings
Good communication and organisational skills
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
A practical attitude and willingness to work alongside crews onsite
Experience with software such as Trimble Business Center, Propeller, or similar would be advantageous
