What do you do when there’s nowhere left to build? You build up.

For a new leisure centre project at Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC) in Melbourne, space was the biggest challenge.

With no room for a traditional site accommodation layout, our team developed a custom split-level solution, combining ground-level placement with a suspended slab configuration to maximise the available footprint.

The result was a fully engineered, triple-stacked, containerised solution designed around the site’s unique constraints. Because every project has constraints. The right solution finds a way around them.

Great to visit our community partner Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae in Mangere to hear about their exciting expansion plans – and learn a thing or two about food rescue and growing organic lettuces!

Since 2019, United Rentals has supported the marae-based food rescue project Kai Ika, which takes fish heads and off cuts that normally go to waste and redistributes it to the local community.

Graham Allison and the New Zealand team worked with Kai Ika to modify a container into a fish filleting station to help increase production capacity to meet demand from families and residents.

As marae CEO Valerie Teraitua puts it: “We rescue food, and we share food.”

As an organisation recognised nationally for leadership in sustainability, the marae’s expansion is driven by demand from schools, organisations and businesses to learn more about everything from waste minimisation to food sovereignty.

It’s a privilege to support the valuable work the marae does for the Mangere community and the wider Auckland region.

A major milestone has been reached at the Brisbane Airport!

The Brisbane Airport Aerobridge Replacement Program has reached the installation of its second aerobridge at Gate 84, bringing the project team and key partners together to mark the occasion.

With Gate 77 complete and Gate 84 well underway, the program is progressing as part of a major upgrade that will see 14 aerobridges replaced between 2026 and 2029.

Delivering complex infrastructure projects requires strong collaboration across contractors, suppliers and stakeholders, and this milestone is a great reflection of that shared commitment.

Congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this milestone, and thank you to those who helped make the event possible.

Leading a passionate and hardworking team is what Regional Vice President, Neil Littlewood, will miss most as he retires from United Rentals.

Because, as Neil says, without a great team you don’t have a business.

Joining Royal Wolf in 2013, Neil became CEO in 2016 with a mandate to reinforce the company’s strategic direction and drive growth.

He achieved that, becoming a hire industry leader, from pioneering double and triple stack containers through to innovative repurposing of mining camp containers into projects like Brisbane’s Eat Street.

Since the acquisition of Royal Wolf by United Rentals in 2021, Neil has led the mammoth but incredibly rewarding task of acquiring and integrating additional businesses to create the thriving company we have today.

From the whole United Rentals Australia / New Zealand team, thanks for your service, Neil, and thanks for being a great guy.

We’ve officially opened our new Shipping Containers & Technical Solutions Facility at Brisbane Airport.

This new branch brings our shipping container, technical solutions, engineering and rental operations together in one strategic Queensland hub, helping us better support customers across construction, infrastructure, industrial and civil projects.

Thank you to Keith Simpson, Director, Mobile Storage at United Rentals Australia & New Zealand, and Scott Norris, Executive General Manager Commercial at the Brisbane Airport Corporation, for speaking at the event, and to the Brisbane Airport for helping bring this milestone to life.

When a leading global oilfield services provider needed a specialised mobile workshop to support tubular gun assembly in the Beetaloo Basin, United Rentals Australia & New Zealand delivered a purpose-built 40ft High Cube container workshop designed for performance in demanding oil and gas conditions.
