Kia ora, over the past 72 hours, severe weather has impacted around 8,200 customers across our network. As of this afternoon, less than 100 customers remain without power. The majority of outages were caused by trees falling onto lines, and while 90 percent of customers were restored within 24 hours, the remaining faults are in isolated, hard-to-access locations on the East Coast, and require more complex repairs, which may take until Friday.

Our crews have been working around the clock, often involving helicopter access, in challenging conditions to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We know how difficult this is and really appreciate your patience while we get everyone reconnected.

Kia ora, approximately 1,900 customers remain affected by severe weather across Tologa Bay, Hicks Bay, Waimata, Rototahi, Te Araroa, Tauwhareparae, Muriwai, Mahia, and Gisborne. Our top priority is restoring the 50kV high-voltage sub transmission to stabilise the wider network. Once this work is complete, crews will shift focus to the regional 11kV lines.
Restoration in some areas is expected to take longer due to challenging land access conditions and the extent of damage in remote rural locations.

Please ring our faults line - 0800 206 207 to report an outage if you haven’t already done so and visit our website for outage information - firstlightnetwork.co.nz/outages.

Thanks for your patience and keep safe out there.
