The West Coast Provincial Fire Brigades' Association 2026 Hilton Haulage Limited Driver's Challenge takes place this Saturday 25 July at the airport where brigade members from all over the South Island test their driving skills in a range of challenges. Members of the public are welcome to watch and 46 south coffee will be onsite for some of the day to provide warm beverages!🚒

Hokitika Museum guided tours on the hour 10am- 1pm Saturday.

SUNDAY 26th July

Hokitika Heritage Film Show at the Regent Theatre 10-11.30am.

Free guided History Walk with local historian Paul Madgwick
1-2.30pm Sunday.

Westland Industrial Heritage Park will be open SATURDAY 10-3.
Railway tour 10-30-11am.
Railway will run 1-3 (weather permitting).

MetService New Zealand has upgraded the Yellow Wind Watch to an Orange Wind Warning for the entire West Coast, south of Westport.

Strong Wind Warning - Orange
Period: 24hrs from 9am Mon, 6 Jul - 9am Tue, 7 Jul
Area: The West Coast south of Westport
Forecast: Severe gale southeast winds gusting 130 km/h in about exposed valleys. Low chance of upgrading to a Red Warning.
Impact: Damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures possible. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
Action: Prepare your property by securing items that can be picked up by strong winds. Drive cautiously. Preparedness advice.
