⚠️ TRAILER SAFETY – IF IT DOESN’T FIT, DON’T FORCE IT! ⚠️

We’ve seen some questionable loads over the years, and this is a good reminder that just because you can physically get something onto a trailer doesn’t mean it is safe to transport.

Overloading a trailer can cause serious problems, including:

❌ Trailer or tyre failure
❌ Damage to the trailer
❌ Poor braking performance
❌ Dangerous weight distribution
❌ Loss of control
❌ Serious risk to yourself and other road users

When loading a trailer, always make sure you know:

✔️ The trailer’s maximum carrying capacity
✔️ The weight of what you’re loading
✔️ That the load is evenly distributed
✔️ That it is properly restrained and secured
✔️ That the trailer is suitable for the job

If it doesn’t fit safely on one of our trailers, don’t risk it.

At Spuds Trailer Hire, we also have a truck and driver available to assist with larger, heavier or awkward loads. Sometimes the safest option is simply using the right equipment for the job.

Spuds Trailer Hire is looking for a reliable Class 2 driver to join our team on a casual relief basis.

This role would suit a semi-retired driver or someone looking for part-time/casual work and doesn’t want to commit to full-time hours.

There’s plenty of variety in the role:

🚛 Transport truck work
🚌 School bus work
🛠️ Carting a variety of equipment
🗺️ Occasional South Island trips
🔗 Trailer work – experience towing a trailer preferred

P Endorsement is required for school bus work, however, we’re happy to help the right applicant obtain their P Endorsement.

We’re also happy to upskill the right person and help you gain experience across different areas of our business.

This starts as a casual relief position, with the potential to lead into a permanent role in the future in other parts of the Spuds Trailer Hire business.

We’re looking for someone who is:

Spud from Spuds Trailer Hire will be at Te Kauwhata College on Tuesday at 5:30 pm to present our proposal and discuss how we can provide a safe, reliable and consistent bus service for the Huntly to TK route.

We are currently in discussions with the existing provider regarding the possibility of purchasing their current bus. At the same time, we’re also exploring other options to ensure we can deliver the best possible service if our proposal proceeds.

We’re also pleased to be working alongside an experienced school bus driver who will take the reins of the service, bringing valuable experience and a strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our local students.

Our goal is simple – to provide a dependable, professional transport solution that puts our students and families first.

2500kg Car Trailer

Our 2500kg rated car trailers are ideal for:
