🚀 Long Weekend Vibes are here! 🇳🇿
Hope you’re all kicking back and making the most of his Big birthday!
While we’re winding down for the long weekend, the Amp Boats crew has been flat out — finishing off some extra custom mods on a 920 WM and starting to show off the early build stages of the new 520 FR as it comes together! 🔥
We’ve also been busy rolling out our new 2026 model numbers across the range. You might’ve already cottoned on — the old 5.0 models are now the new 520 series.
What’s changed?
A proper 50mm wider internal beam (doesn’t sound like much… until you’re standing in it — it feels way bigger).
Now one of the widest external beams available in the 16ft / 5m category.
Wider floor = bigger underfloor tank options too (still offering the 75L, but now stepping up to a 100L as well).
Just smarter, practical improvements that actually add value and capability.
The options are seriously endless with Amp Boats, and we’re wrapping up the final updates and new pricing sheets right now.

While we weren’t able to attend the boat show this year, our small team of two has been fully focused on this impressive new model.
Built to the owner’s exact specifications, this 920 WorkMan features a thoughtful open-plan layout and a comprehensive list of custom features and modifications tailored to his intended use.
These photos show the boat in the final stages of the alloy build — nearly ready to move into the paint and finishing bay. (Beer bottle included for scale 🍺)
From initial concept through to detailed fabrication, the customer has been heavily involved every step of the way. The result is a practical, purpose-built vessel that demonstrates what’s possible with true custom aluminium boat building.

🌧️ North Island – you’ve been absolutely hammered by this wild weather.

Our thoughts are with everyone across the region dealing with the heavy rain, flooding, and extreme conditions — from Wellington, Lower Hutt, Porirua, and the Pāuatahanui area through to the wider North Island and beyond. With more rain and strong weather pushing through overnight, we’re sending strength and support to all the families, crews, and communities looking after each other and staying safe. Kia kaha.

In the middle of it all, one of our Amp Boats went on an unplanned tiki tour from the Wellington / Lower Hutt area… and it’s already going a bit viral online too 😂
She was securely stored on her trailer while waiting for a repower… until the floodwaters from the Pāuatahanui Stream had other ideas. She broke free, floated several kilometres downstream — b**g out, motor holes exposed, with her 450+ kg tandem trailer still strapped on tight.
She took some knocks along the way — upturned by the pressure, caught on a cable across the waterway, then pushed hard until she came to a stop against a bridge and other debris. But she held up remarkably well overall, and the customer was able to get her back in somewhat one piece.

We always say we build them Tough… but we definitely don’t expect (or recommend) this kind of real-world stress test!
4x4 of the H₂O — built down in Southland to handle serious conditions.
That said — please stay safe out there. Secure your boats and gear properly, never underestimate floodwater, and remember it’s always the skipper’s job to keep the crew safe. We can’t control Mother Nature, or when she decides to take a boat for a solo adventure.

From one thrilled 6.0 Workman owner after an epic family week in Manapouri & Te Anau:

“We had 10 kids between 8 and 4 doing bombs off the roof – the less confident ones starting off jumping off the boarding ladders and building up to jumping from the gunnels. Using the boat to get to a few wee bush walks off the beaten track, water skiing, biscuiting, and the dads even caught a few fish with some early morning runs, brewing up coffee on the bait board.”

Our extended aft boarding platforms are a standard feature on these builds – unbeatable stability for heavy loads and splashing kids, staying dry under pressure. Added with our cage ladders and you’ve got the ultimate swim & dive platforms – safe, easy access for building confidence in deep water! 🚤🌊👏

Throwback to that unreal Milford mission in 2023 — hooked into some solid southern bluefin tuna right off Fiordland!
These powerhouses were firing that year, and our AMP Boats built tough in Southland handled every blistering run.

1. Would you like to water-test the boats you have a hand in getting there? (We do full on-water testing — nothing beats seeing your own work perform in the real stuff!) 💦
2. Got solid experience cutting, fabricating and welding alloy hulls built for Southland conditions (Bluff Harbour chop, Fiordland’s best )?
3. Keen to bring your boat-building know-how to custom, personalised builds?
4. Must-have: Proven experience as a boat builder from another yard/background?
5. Key skill: Strong MIG & TIG welding on aluminium/alloy?
