✈️ FATHER’S DAY GIVEAWAY 🍻

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and to celebrate we’ve got a $100 voucher for the brand-new Hangar 106 Café up for grabs!

If you haven’t checked out Hangar 106 yet, you’re missing out. The menu is seriously delicious, with plenty to choose from, plus great coffee, and cold b**r and w**e, and a pretty decent view of the runway while you’re at it.

Want to win the father figure in your life a $100 shout? Drop your best (or worst) Dad joke in the comments below and tag the Dad, or Dad-like legend, you’d bring along.

The joke can be brilliant. It can be terrible. In fact, the more groan-worthy, the better. We’ll pick one lucky winner to receive a $100 Hangar 106 voucher to enjoy this Father’s Day.

Winner drawn and announced on Saturday, 5 September 2026.

It’s Cancer Council Daffodil Day 💛

1 in 3 New Zealanders will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. That’s our families, our friends, our colleagues and people throughout our community.

If you’re passing through Invercargill Airport today, you’ll spot a friendly Daffodil Day collector in the terminal raising funds for the Cancer Society Otago Southland and the support they provide to people affected by cancer and their whānau.

If you can, stop by and donate to these superstar volunteers. Every contribution helps the Cancer Society be there for the 1 in 3 who will need them. Look out for the yellow in the terminal today. Every daffodil makes a difference. 🌼

Your next career move might be one you haven't considered yet 😉

What if going to work meant being part of a tight-knit crew, learning new skills, working around aircraft and training for a role that genuinely matters?

Invercargill Airport is looking for its next Rescue Firefighter Recruits.

It’s a career with plenty of variety. You’ll train for aviation emergencies, learn firefighting and rescue skills, work with some seriously impressive equipment and play a hands-on role in keeping the airport safe and running, and we’ll invest in you from day one.

We’re looking for good people with a great attitude, a willingness to learn and the kind of mindset that makes you want to get stuck in and be part of the team.

Could this be your next move?

We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Southland Business Chamber BA4 event last night.

Special thanks to the Merlin Labs team for their presentation, our new and epic Hangar 106 Café for the amazing food, and the Chamber and its members for coming along and making the evening such a success.

We were also delighted to see an incredibly generous $1,200 donation to Koru Care Charitable Trust New Zealand - what a wonderful contribution to an organisation doing great things for Kiwi kids and their families. 💙

NOT YOUR AVERAGE DESK JOB.

Looking for a career change that’s a little less ordinary? Invercargill Airport is looking for its next Rescue Firefighter Recruits - and no, you don’t need to already be a firefighter.

We’re looking for people with the right attitude. People who back their teammates, aren’t afraid of hard work, can follow direction when it counts and are keen to learn something completely different. We’ll provide the training, the gear and the pathway to get you there.

You’ll train for aviation emergencies, learn to fight fires, drive some pretty impressive kit and help keep the airport safe and running. And because emergencies thankfully aren’t an everyday occurrence, you’ll also get stuck into everything from wildlife control and airport operations to maintenance and helping passengers.

Think you’ve got what it takes?

Yesterday was a win worth celebrating! Huge congratulations to the SBS Bank Southland Sharks on an incredible win - a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for Southland!
It’s an extra special celebration for the Invercargill Airport team, with our own Julie Jack cheering on her son Will Jack, who’s part of the Sharks squad.
We love seeing Southlanders doing great things, both on and off the court. Congratulations to Will and the entire Sharks team, coaches and crew on a brilliant result. You’ve done Southland proud!

What an afternoon!

Yesterday was a true celebration of community and opportunity as we officially marked the completion of our terminal upgrade. Best of all, there wasn't a piece of security tape or a road cone in sight!

More than just a construction milestone, it was a celebration of investing in our region, planning for the future, and ensuring Southland is ready for what comes next.

These upgrades reflect our confidence in Southland and our commitment to creating an airport that is modern, welcoming, and future-ready - prepared to support the growth and opportunities ahead.

A special thank you to the incredible James Hargest College Kapa Haka group, whose powerful performance set the tone for the afternoon and was a highlight of the celebration. Their energy, passion, and pride made the occasion even more memorable.

Thank you also to Mayor Tom Campbell, our Board, business leaders, elected members, iwi representatives, project partners, and everyone from our community who joined us to celebrate this significant milestone. It was fantastic to share the occasion with so many people who continue to support the future of our region.

We'd like to say a massive shout-out to More FM Southland 89.2 and Jimmy's Pies Roxburgh for dropping off a stack of hot pies for the team today! 🥧

They definitely went down a treat with the crew (including our airport firefighters!) and made for a pretty great pie day.

Thanks for keeping everyone fuelled; we really appreciate it!

If you're up early on Thursday 30 July, you might notice something a little different in the skies above Invercargill Airport.

As part of our airfield lighting upgrade, a specialised flight inspection aircraft will be carrying out a series of low-level circuits from around 4am until sunrise to test and calibrate our newly installed runway lights.

The aircraft, ZK-FIS, will fly multiple approaches and circuits in both runway directions as part of this important safety process. The flight paths, heights and repeated loops may look a little unusual compared with normal aircraft movements, but there's no cause for concern - it's all part of ensuring our new lighting system is operating accurately and safely.

Thanks for your patience and understanding as we continue investing in the safety and future of Invercargill Airport.

📸 What you’ll expect to see in the air, being the specialised flight inspection aircraft, ZK-FIS.
