Who feels like a journey to Auckland for lunch this Sunday? Departing 11:15am from Mangawhai Tavern with pick-ups at Hakaru RSA and Warkworth Park'n Ride, then to Galbraith's Ale House for Sunday lunch (Roast and Ale specials). Returning late pm with a likely stop at Puhoi. Just $45.00 for return transport for a great day out with a fun group of people.

💥 2025/26 is the tenth anniversary show for Sculpture in the Gardens! Since the shows are biennial (every two years), this anniversary represents 20 years of exceptional, large-scale New Zealand sculpture being celebrated in Auckland Botanic Gardens. The archive on our website presents an incredible who’s who of NZ sculptors – two decades of talent.

Every exhibition there are three awards presented: the Supreme Award, the Acquisition Award (this is the piece – sometimes more than one which is purchased from the artist by the Friends of the Gardens) and the People’s Choice Award. 🏆

Over the next weeks, we’ll be bringing you a ‘Friday Flashback’ – revisiting an award-winner from 2007 onwards.

A special aspect of SitG10: the group of 16 artists who started it all back in 2007 will be in this anniversary show 20 years later as ‘Growth Industry’ – pictured are three of them: Left to right: the legendary Richard Mathieson, Stephen Woodward (both in the inaugural show and Andrew de Boer.

The Titanic Exhibition in the old Smith and Caugheys store Auckland is holding this exhibition.

More than a century after the Titanic sank in the icy waters of the North Atlantic and claimed the lives of 1,496 people, Titanic: The Human Story is set to open at one of Auckland’s most iconic heritage landmarks, Smith & Caughey’s Building.

Created by award-winning exhibitions creator and producer, Musealia and Titanic historian and expert Claes-Göran Wetterholm in an Auckland-exclusive season, this experience is an immersive trip through time, bringing you closer to the myths, stories and people on board.

Discover countless stories of its passengers, explore hundreds of genuine artifacts, and step inside life-size recreations of the ship’s interiors, from first-class luxury to third-class simplicity. Photographs, handwritten letters, wayward keepsakes, and other personal belongings will transport you back to 1912 and an audio guide will serve as your narrator, guiding you through the events of that fateful night.

Titanic: The Human Story is far more than a display of historic items: it is a unique narrative experience. This is truly a special opportunity to unravel the true story of history’s most legendary ship in one of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s most historical, beloved landmarks.

Update: The Chatham Islands is pumping. We managed to get the last ten rooms, the year is full up. Dates are for 4th January to 11th January 2027 leaving via Wellington so of course a flight to Wellington then a flight to Chatham Islands. Waiting on more info.
