McLeod Cranes and Hiabs

23/10/2026

We are pleased to announce that McLeod Cranes has purchased Murtagh Crane Hire, a well-established crane hire business servicing the Taup? region for more than 30 years.

Murtagh Crane Hire has built a strong reputation for reliable crane services and local expertise under the leadership of Wayne Murtagh.

Wayne has joined the McLeod team and will continue to look after his existing customers and relationships.

The acquisition further strengthens McLeod's presence in Taup? and the central North Island, bringing together Murtagh's local experience with McLeod's wider crane fleet, equipment and supporting services.

For our existing McLeod customers, it remains business as usual. Your regular contacts and service arrangements continue as normal.

We look forward to welcoming Wayne into the McLeod business and continuing to provide the safe, reliable and professional service our customers expect.

Thank you for your continued support.

🏆 A HUGE achievement for Sam — and one the entire McLeod team is incredibly proud of! 🇳🇿

The entire team at McLeod are absolutely stoked and immensely proud of Sam for winning this award — and what an achievement it was!

This was certainly no easy feat. Sam progressed through the initial interview stages, faced a series of challenging questions, and then diligently worked through a heap of technical questions covering trucking, HSE and UD.

What makes the achievement even more impressive is the amount of work Sam put in outside of his normal working hours to prepare. His dedication, commitment and determination have clearly paid off, with Sam taking out the competition by a very impressive margin.

Now the next chapter begins! 🇳🇿✈️🇯🇵

Sam is preparing to travel to Japan in October, where he will represent NZ, UD and fly the McLeod flag on the international stage.

To see one of our own team members achieve this is something we couldn't be prouder of. Sam is a fantastic young man who has shown that hard work, dedication and a willingness to challenge yourself can lead to some pretty special opportunities.

A very well deserved win, Sam — you should be incredibly proud of yourself!

From everyone at McLeod, we wish you all the best for Japan. Enjoy the experience, soak it all up and go hard, Sam! 🇳🇿💪

Last weekend we attended the Hawkins Community Day. 🏗️

A fantastic turnout and over $370 in gold coin donations for MATES in Construction - that's quite a few sausages!!! 🌭

We really appreciated the warm welcome and the effort that went into making the day such a success. It was a pleasure for our team to be there, meet people, have a few laughs, and play a small part in what was a great community event.

Thank you again for including us and for giving us the opportunity to be involved. We genuinely appreciate it and look forward to supporting more community initiatives in the future.

👏 Well done to everyone involved in putting together such a great day!
