Where can I get interesting things cut? CMC Design of course!
Over the last 10 years we have been cutting anything and everything in Opua, Northland, for individuals and businesses. From beehive prototypes, boat shaped bookshelves, kindy furniture, artworks, signage, gifts, carvings, marina parts, fretwork, railings, moulds, kitchens and heaps more.

Did you know we have a very cool machine that can CNC cut continuous long lengths of timber?
We don't know of any other machine in Northland (or further away!) that can do this.
The timber feeds in one side and comes out the other meaning we can drill, mill and shape lengths up to 6+ meters long with great precision.

How's this for a lovely review!

Craig and his team at CMC Design did a full exterior refit of our yacht Clark Gable a few years ago while the country was grappling with Covid. It included a full mast out, windows out, open transom rebuild and makeover, with a comprehensive deck and topsides repaint. Nothing was spared, no corners were cut and everything received the full attention of their team of craftsmen. Now, almost 6 years on, we're seeing the real rewards of that work. The boat still looks as immaculate as the day we put her back in the water - and everything functions perfectly, a true testament to doing things right first time. We still receive glowing comments from other boaties at Doves Bay marina. I have no hesitation in recommending these guys to any owner who truly wants the best for their boat restoration. The attention to detail in the planning stages through to the weekly reporting, photos and meetings onsite as the work progressed, to the friendship and trust built up as the boat was fully recommissioned. It was a positive and rewarding process - something I am understanding and appreciating more and more as time passes as we witness the quality of the workmanship shining on. And what's more - they don't charge the earth like some boat builders. Non of these guys are driving around in flashy cars! Their pricing is accurate and honest - and in my view, the best value you can spend on your boat asset and your future enjoyment on the water. Talk to Craig at CMC about your next project. Wee blast from the past! Craig Circa 1995 working on classic launch Otehei.
He hardly recognised himself when this pic was discovered on the Waitemata Woodies page recently.
Craig has lived and breathed boats all his life. He completed his boatbuilding apprenticeship in 1988 under the watchful eye of Jim Ashby at Ashbys boatyard in Opua, just a stones throw from Craig's family home across the water.
Craigs breadth of knowledge over the years has grown with each project, and there have been many! He has also worked locally as a builder on a number of new builds over the years, and under his own business CMC Design as a cabinetmaker and boatbuilder for decades.
Never compromising on doing things right, and always pushing forward.

Bespoke Vanity - crafted by the team at CMC Design, and visualised by technology.
We have a series of processes that are undertaken to build beautiful bespoke products. They include client meetings, sketch mockups, CAD drawings and photo and email updates and communication as the build progresses. At times we miss the 'grand finale', the finished build, as there are often other trades such as, granite installers, plumbers and electricians that follow along after us. Technology is a great tool to give a little hand see the imagined result.
We will report back with the real deal.
