We’re absolutely stoked to support our mates at Glenbrook Vintage Railway as Ab 608 ventures north to operate a fantastic series of heritage train excursions across the Upper North Island! 🚂

It’s going to be brilliant seeing Passchendaele stretching her legs on sections of track she last saw 12 years ago - keep an eye on GVR’s page for all the details!

🚂 Thank you for joining us on the Napier Escape!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for our sold-out Napier Escape to Hawke’s Bay.

It was fantastic to see a full train of passengers enjoying a day away by rail, travelling through the Manawatū Gorge and across Hawke’s Bay to Napier.

Once in Napier, passengers headed off to enjoy the city in their own way, while others joined a special guided Art Deco Napier Tour, taking in the stories, architecture and character that make Napier so unique. Another group made their way to the beautiful Mission Estate Winery for a relaxed afternoon of great food, wine and Hawke’s Bay hospitality.

A special thank you also goes to our volunteers and crew who put in a huge day behind the scenes to make the excursion happen. Thanks to Michelle Thompson for sharing this excellent photo of Da 1410 leading Train B09 through Ormondville, homeward bound.

Thanks for travelling with Steam Incorporated — we hope you enjoyed the Napier Escape as much as we enjoyed taking you there!

Keen for a Da Hauled Excursion up the PNGL? Still seats available for this Saturday's excursion to Waipukurau - check out https://steaminc.org.nz/book-train-trip/sfe/ for more

Seven Years of Work hits the Main Line | Introducing AS 1868

Tomorrow’s Napier Escape will mark the first excursion in service for AS 1868, following an seven-year restoration by the team at Steam Incorporated. A pet project of long-time volunteer David Rowland, who carried out much of the internal works, '68 has spent the last year or so undergoing the "bottom-end" rebuild & finishing work by the workshop team.

Tomorrow, AS 1868 will finally carry and serve passengers on an excursion again as part of our sold-out run to Napier.

It’s a great milestone for the team who have worked away on the carriage over the past seven years — and another piece of New Zealand railway history back where it belongs.
