β οΈ PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE β TAXI IDENTIFICATION WARNING
Premium Taxis has been advised by venue security and bouncers of a look-alike vehicle operating late night, allegedly offering taxi services while appearing similar to Premium Taxis branding.
For public safety, we remind customers and venues how to identify a licensed taxi in New Zealand:
βοΈ A LEGITIMATE TAXI MUST DISPLAY:
Red taxi identification stickers on both rear passenger doors
Camera operating signage inside or outside the vehicle (not just a dash cam)
Multiple official labels on the windscreen (including Transport Service Licence and inspection tickets near the rego label)
A COF (Certificate of Fitness) β taxis do not operate on a WOF
A visible P Endorsement photo ID of the driver
Vehicles inspected to commercial safety standards at VTNZ
β οΈ WARNING SIGNS OF AN UNLICENSED VEHICLE:
Branding or lighting that closely resembles a taxi company but is incomplete
Taxi lights or decals only on one side of the vehicle
No visible taxi stickers, camera signage, or driver ID
Driver offering cash rides without proof of licensing
π« Unlicensed vehicles are NOT insured to carry passengers and pose a serious safety risk.
If you are unsure:
Ask to see the driverβs P Endorsement ID
Check for red taxi door stickers
When in doubt, decline the ride
π If you believe an unlicensed vehicle is operating, report it to:
NZTA Compliance
Venue security
Police (if immediate safety concerns exist)
