Happy Friday!!

After what feels like approximately six months of Antarctic conditions, I have FINALLY opened the front door of Jet Set Go! again. It has been firmly shut for the last couple of months while I’ve sat inside wrapped up like a human burrito, but today there is actual sunshine, warmth and fresh air coming in and it feels like a summer's day!

If you’re walking past today, come and say hello… the door is open, I’m thawing out and I’m very happy to see daylight again!

Do you remember how we travelled back in the day?

Dressed up to fly, whilst lugging around our suitcase. Paper tickets and printed maps. Smoking on the plane, with little ashtrays in the armrests. Film cameras, walkmans and payphones. Family could come right to the gate to wave you goodbye. Hotel keys, traveller’s cheques, passport stamps and postcards. You might actually get lost and somehow that was part of the adventure – we'd ask a local!

Fast-forward to 2026!

Face masks! Phone in hand, comfy clothes on, suitcases now have handles and wheels! Digital boarding passes, online check-in and instant flight updates. No smoking, but Wi-Fi, charging ports and entertainment on demand. Your phone is your camera, map, wallet, translator, boarding pass and travel agent. Track your luggage, book a ride, find a restaurant and video-call home instantly. Travel is easier than ever — but perhaps a little less mysterious.

Do you remember anything weird or quirky we did from previous decades?

I must say whilst studying Travel & Toursim, I do recall learning how to write those old IATA airline paper tickets! (The pain is still real)! Haha
