The Reclaim Project

The Reclaim Project A collective of waste based social enterprises in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki, Auckland. This is a Tāmaki WRAP Project. What is The Reclaim Project?

We are a collective of partners in the Maungakiekie-Tamaki Community who want to create or support Waste Based Social Enterprise Opportunities. How we came to be…
We came together in 2016 to learn about each other, develop a shared understanding about what work we would like to become involved in and brainstorm opportunities for us to develop. We also talked about how we want youth to benefit from

these new enterprises. Tāmaki WRAP is leading this work and acting as the current umbrella for the development of this partnership. In early 2017, Tara Moala and Nikki Korte from Rākau Tautoko joined the partnership to help with coordination and facilitation of this project. Rākau Tautoko is a collective of community development practitioners who work alongside community to build empowerment and engagement. Tara has been a Wrapper since the beginning of Tāmaki WRAP and a strong advocate for growing local solutions to waste. What’s next…
As a collective, have identified that having shared working spaces is the first priority to make this happen. We want to establish a shared retail space, industrial space and truck this year, in 2017.

We were buzzing today and yesterday at the amount of knowledge and tips we got from the Resource Recovery Managers Training! Here’s Tara from Rākau Tautoko with Estella from Chinese Conservation Education Trust.

We also had Therese and Des from PVA, Matthew from Envision and Zero Waste Network as well as Sue from Wastebusters and so many other Zero Waste Guardians from around Auckland, I can’t even list them all! So many connections made!

Thanks heaps Zero Waste Network!
