Loneliness Awareness Week 15-21 June 2026 💛

Loneliness can affect anyone, but many older people experience long periods without regular connection or conversation. Sometimes a simple chat, a shared coffee, or joining a local group can make a real difference.

This week is a reminder to check in with friends, neighbours, and loved ones — and to encourage open conversations about loneliness and connection.

There are many wonderful ways to stay socially connected:
☕ Coffee clubs
🚶 Walking and exercise groups
🎨 Hobby and community groups
🧩 Social outings and activities

At Driving Miss Daisy Mana–Porirua, we are proud to help people stay connected by providing safe, friendly transport to a range of local groups and activities. Often the journey itself becomes part of the social connection too.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day helps raise awareness of the abuse, neglect, and isolation that some older people experience - often quietly and behind closed doors.

Today, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of the ANZACs.

At Driving Miss Daisy Mana Porirua, we reflect on the values of service, respect, and community that define this important day. We are grateful to those who served and continue to serve, and we acknowledge the impact they have had on the lives we are privileged to support every day.
