The beautiful Karangahake Gorge and Waihi area. We visited this area a couple of weeks ago with our travel mascot, well worth spending a day here. Lots to learn about the gold mining history of this region, and taking in some beautiful views. Then stop off at the Waikino Tavern when you're done for a drink or a coffee.
