My very first Linehaul vehicle, first truck I ever went inter-island in.
A 6 speed Nissan Diesel, aptly named Pinky.
An absolute beast of a truck, and the most comfortable Nissan I've ever driven.
This truck was and still is with H & J Bruce / Aoraki Furniture Movers.
Last time I seen this rig, she was no longer pink, but still doing a honest days work.
I've never forgotten where my trucking career started, and even though this wasn't my first heavy vehicle I'd ever driven for a job, it's certainly one of the most memorable.
So a grateful thank you to all those who took me on as a driver, saw something in me, and have me that chance and opportunity.

This is a 1989 Yamaha V-Max, purchased it from my God Father about 18 months ago, it's spent just over a year at my mechanic as it was parked up and running, but hasn't been run in 4 years.
It's all now road legal and running as a high performance engine should.
So it's now my latest Company vehicle, along with my 2008 BMWRT1200 RTP, and a car that I'm eyeing up ( because rain )
So I'd like to give a huge thank you to DR MOTO for doing all the mechanical work, putting up with me, and working their wizard like magic to get it running as it should be.
There's a reason they're my go to mechanic, even if I'm out of town, there's no one I trust more to work on my bikes than Dr Moto

I've been asked why do I use the term Group? Am I doing several things to justify using the term?

As it happens, yeah I do.

So not only am I a contract driver, I also hand dye and sell Ropes, I host and hold events, I teach, I'm also a truck consultant and a transport consultant.
Yes it's alot, but it's enough to keep me out of trouble lol.

So for my ropes, I import, cut and dye ropes that I sell at one of my events.

As for my events I Run a Rope based event, as well as a Bike Night

For truck consultation, having a vast experience in multiple heavy vehicles, many gear boxes and levels of horse power.
So I get a phone call from a client asking what tuck so I buy next, I get all the information that they want the vehicle to do, and I supply a list of what heavy vehicles that would be suited best to achieve that job they want, from price range, horse power, chassis length, tractor unit or prime mover, etc

For Transport consultation, again referring again to my 20 years in Heavy road Transport, a client will call, and tell me what needs to be moved and where, weather it's oversize, heavy, full load, part load etc, and I'll get back to them with their best transport options, and suggestions of who to use.

Everything I do, I do because I enjoy it, no point doing it otherwise.
Heavy road transport is something I wanted to do for as long as I can remember, along with joining the NZDF, which I also did and served for several years with what was 2nd Canterbury Battalion, but is now 2/4

Heavy Road Transport, drivers, and operators have taught me alot, always paying attention and taking every opportunity given to me or sent my way.

I've always believed an opportunity not taken is a opportunity missed, or at very least a awesome story not to tell, and admittedly I do have a few stories up my sleeve

Found some more photos going through the archives.
Alot of tidy running gear, especially for the time, with plenty more interesting loads

Some interesting facts, The Blue Kenworth K200 was the first manual one in the country and was with East Coast in Dunedin.

The International with sleeper was the only 6x4 bonneted Inter of that model with a sleeper, there was also a 8x4 which I believe is still on the road.

The Brenics Western Star was a absolute weapon of a truck, 550hp Cat C15 under the hood.

The STL Western Star was originally made for I believe Pollock's, but cancelled the order ( so I'm told ) and STL Linehaul purchased it, it has its own transporter quad trailer, 1 of 2 trailers built for that unit and Black Stallions Daddy, Their Kenworth T904.
Both the 4964 and 904 had Cummins Signature, Gen II motors

The STL Mack was refurbed and now with Kelvin Anderson in Timaru, and looking immaculate

Just a few quick photos of some of the trucks I've driven in my time, and some of the loads I'm moved aswell

Thank you to all those who have clicked this page to check me out.
For those who don't know, I'm Dane Sorenson, and this is my page where I trade as The Wombat Group.
Now why The Wombat Group?
My gamer tag is Combat-Wombat, and I also do a few other things other than as a contract driver, and was easier to use the umbrella term of Group than individual pages.

So why use me as a contract driver?
I have 20+ years in Heavy Road Transport, on various type of truck and trailers, from Flat Decks, Transporters, Wideners, Curtain sided trailer, Reefer's, Tankers, Bulk Tippers, Swing lift and skeleton trailers.
So having all this experience with these types of units, I can also back then all too, truck and trailers, B-trains and semi trailers ( both with and without steering axles)
I'm an old school driver, can still tarp and enjoy doing it ( when it's not windy or raining )
I'm the driver you Set and Forget, as long as I have all the information required, I'll get the job done without any issues.
I'm not the type of driver to ring management about a problem when I can fix it myself, or patch something to get myself going again.
