TMRC attended the boutique model train show at Cambridge town hall this weekend. We took three layouts:
The ever popular DriverTrain- always a hit with children and parents alike. And the adjoining Shunting Puzzle tested some older children and some adults.

Our admired rendering of the famous Raurimu spiral provides a talking point- our stock continues to be an ongoing project to improve reliability and authenticity.

Finally, our little N gauge British layout just keeps going - no frills, simple, double track continuous runs that go in and out of tunnels and twisting curves.

It seemed a good turnout given the weather. Maybe that helped.

A very wet night in Tauranga so only a few members made it to club night.

We had a couple of visitors however and they were shown the main layout’s operating- minus Raurimu, Driver Train and the N Gauge British layout that are packed in the club trailer for the train show in Cambridge this weekend.

The Cambridge crew always support our annual show so we are happy to support theirs in return.

The club has a new diesel to run on Stourbridge, so it was strutting its stuff last night, pulling a rake of coaches.

Thursday night - another club night. Scenic work being done on revised English OO gauge layout.
As is now a regular occurrence- much to the amusement of Katikati locals, another American interloper trundled through the town. In this case a large Cotton Belt diesel pulling a few trucks…
Not to be outdone the poor unsuspecting folk of Raurimu delighted in seeing a Japanese D51 Mikado, pulling the yamaguchi express!!!

Members little treasures getting a gallop on club layouts. That’s what club night is all about.

A cool Sunday afternoon saw our monthly layout visit go to Katikati.
A friend of our secretary is a Marklin fan building a European style layout in garage.
Only been working on it about 2 years so very much a work in progress.
Like all quality European models stock ran well, DCC controlled and some with sound.

That Santa Fe thing was back around Katikati; actually looks very nice snaking through those reverse curves north of KK station !
And a beautiful Hornby Ex GWR with sound running around Stourbridge.
What’s not to like!

Club night usually brings up little surprises. Or members have some fun.
Either way, Katikati residents were in aww as a Santa Fe F7 unit ‘escaped’ the rigours of western USA and glided the Taneatua express towards and through Katikati station!
Wonders never cease…
The club layout provides opportunities for running all things that can use HO track.

TMRC tries to have one layout visit to a club member or associate/ club’friend’ home layout every month or two.
Today we gathered at an American themed layout in the rural area of western bay.
Built as a large U shaped HO layout in a double garage Dans layout has taken a 5 years so far and work is ongoing.
The layout features plenty of running lines and spectacular scenery; mountains, dam and power station, small towns and a dock area. A city scape area is emerging. Buildings are a mix of American kits and free-lance.
