Motorists travelling through the district today are asked to take extra care and be patient, with heavy traffic on the roads as the long weekend comes to a close.
There are several areas across the region where there is congestion and delays, including in Waikino where queues are stretching some kilometres back.
Please allow extra time to travel today. Slow down, don't take risks, and treat the people in the cars around you as if they're your own family.
